As many of you may know, the Sons of Ben have 2 teams playing in a rec league in Philadelphia, the CASA league. One of the teams is currently having difficulties in getting players every week for a variety of reasons. So in an effort to help fill out the squad, I am asking the Big Soccer nation to help out. The team has 5 games remaining for the season, mainly played on Saturdays, and is looking for players.

    Details:

Games are played at Pennypack Park on the River, off of State Rd in Northeast Philly.
Socks and shinguards are required of all players, cleats are optional but are recommended.
Since this is happening in season, there is no time for a uniform order, so we would request that all players bring a yellow tee shirt and a light blue tee with them each week. Numbers can be taped to the backs of each shirt as needed.
Cost - $20 a player will cover referee and league fees for all new players.

Any questions can be sent to me via DM, or on the board when I get a chance to check here. Thanks.

    http://sobcasa.wufoo.com/forms/sob-casa-spring-2011-signups/

Sign-up here only if you are serious about playing and are willing to commit to finishing the season with us. Roster spots are limited, and the next game is Saturday, June 4th.

Whats the skill level like? I haven't played competitively for a few years and am a bit rusty

The team plays in the leagues 4th division, but the skill levels are pretty good. If you have playing experience, you should be fine.

Are the fields still Shit? It was impractical to play the ball when I played there before.

Also any SoB's looking to play more towards the West Chester, KOP, area? it is difficult for me to get to penny pack each weekend.

if you can show up to teh games and actually make contact with the ball then you will be fine.

This team is basically a bunch of people that want to get out and have fun playing a sport we love. I don't think anyone on our team is really in danger of being extremely fit, though we are all in "shape"

    round is a shape...

Like I said, we jsut want to have fun and get some excersize.

I'll tell you what - i kind of joked about it at the Dark Horse the opening night - but if you still need someone i'll come along and play. I've been needing something to get fit anyway. THe only problem is that i can't on the 4th or 11th...but after that i am free.

Is it $20 per week or just a $20 one off fee?

Also - as there are only 5 weeks left (3 if i play) - will this continue anyway in the summer? When are future seasons (with coaching - i can't make it when i am coaching).

As for experience - i played until i was 13, hurt myself the week before "trials" at school - then coached until i played again at my last year of Uni. (fun league). Afterwards- i played down in Ga a bit, but all just fun, indoor stuff. I am only a defender, and very much a clone of Danny Califf - if that is what you are looking for.

$20 is the flat fee for the rest of the season.

It is actually only 4 weeks left, 5 games, 2 games this week due to rainout make-ups.

The league doesn't continue into the summer, but we do give all returning players the first chances to sign up for the following season, which would begin in the late summer, early fall, around labor day usually.

Do you know schedule for rest of games? I'm smoore1117 on Twitter, who just asked.

Could do any game before 4 pm for rest of June, and anything earlier on June 11 (wedding at 3:30). Can't do July 3, but I think you said above that there's no game that week?

If that's cool, I'll gladly sign up. I think I'd only miss that 5 pm game this week, but if you need someone who can make all 5 games, that's totally fine. Just lemme know.

When is the other game this week?

When does the next season begin? (and all seasons after that).

Also - what i mean by continueing in the summer - will we be playing even just fun games during summer - even just within the group, with no need for referees.

also - how much is it for a "full season" - as if i can't play every game, i could play part of a season etc etc - but if it is something like $100 per player and it is only 2-3 games i can play....

Games this week are at 1:10 and 5. June 11 the game is at 11:15. The last 2 weeks I don't know yet, those games are make-up games.

We don't play throughout the summer, the fall season begins around Labor day and runs till Thanksgiving.

A full season is 11 games plus playoffs if the team qualifies. Costs are usually less then $100 plus uniform costs, which was around $30 if i remember from the last order.

Ok in that case - if you want i'll come and play for the last 2 weeks. There is no way i can play this week or next. It looks like your "seasons" follow exactly when i coach, so it wouldn't be something i'd be able to do more often.

Signed up to play, and looking forward to it.

As I said, I think I'll be able to make all the games except the late one this weekend.

Not in outstanding soccer shape, but have been playing on Sundays for the last few weeks and gotten a little bit of my touch back. Happy to play defense, up front, goalie. Whatever.

    See you Saturday.

Do you still need guys? I haven't played in a year or so (I just moved to Philly this year and don't really know anybody) but I've played pretty regularly for the last 7 years. I've been running 12-20 miles a week so I'm in pretty good shape.

I'm not really a goalscorer but I can play anywhere in the back 4 or in a holding midfield spot. I'm also not one of those dick rec league dudez who scream at each other all the time!

    Hey there...

I just got "extended" in terms of coaching for another week, so won't be able to make it to any game but the last game.

If i am still "needed" on the last game, i can come and be a ringer....

If you need another I'll see what I can do about making the 35 minute drive out there from Jersey. I'd say I can play along the back 4 or in the Alex Song-holding mid role
