Quick thought on the MLS All-American XI at this point in the season?

    GK:
    Tally Hall
    (Honorable Mention: Rimando, Keller)
    DEF:
    Chad Marshall
    George John
    Danny Califf
(Honorary Mention: Boswell, Pearce, Moor, Schuler)
    MID:
    Brad Davis
    Eddie Gaven
    Kyle Beckerman
    Jack Jewsbury
    Geoff Cameron
(Honorable Mention: Okugo, Larentowicz, Daniel Hernandez)
    FWD:
    Chris Wondolowski
    Will Bruin
(Honorable Mention: Charlie Davies, Teal Bunbury
    )

I think the midfield and defense pick themselves. Up front there's not to much to differentiate a fairly weak crop. Bruin gets a nod due to Houston's surprising success. Wondo is arguably a midfielder too.

I really hope Bruin keeps his current form and develop even further.

And yeah, this list will evolve over time as some players emerge and others disappoint, but I don't see any big changes nonetheless.

this week: Sheannon Williams, Brad Davis, Corey Ashe, Brad Evans, and Will Bruin.

    -------------------------
As of right now, the American player of the season so far has to go to Brad Davis. he has been playing out of his skull lately. Honestly, i wouldn't be shocked to see him take Holden's spot on the 23 Gold Cup line-up.

No matter what the list says......you should always start the conversation about MLS/USMNT players with Donovan, Ream, and Agudelo.

I think Chad Marshall used to make plays like that, but then he found out we were talking about him like he was worth something and got spooked.

Ream with a good show of athleticism today. Also was impressed by his clearance at the 85-86 mark

LOL That must have been a LOONG time ago! No way Marshall presses a player that high up the field now. In the games Ive seen he sits WAY back looking to disrupt passing lane (presumably) recognizing he doesn’t have wheels. Not saying that his technique is less effect (as evidenced by his multiple starting11 awards; but he's a different beast altogether

a quick list of players that impressed me this week:

Dan Kennedy (single handed kept Chivas in the game), Tim Ream (what a save! but still probably shouldn't have let Donovan get goal side of him in the first place), Landon Donovan (he's starting to shake the rust off but needs to bury the sitters), and Omar Gonzalez (thought he did well too)

I think at CB you can count Ream, John

At LB, Convey. (mainly because the US has no good LBs)

At FW: Wondolowski, Davies, Agudelo, Bunbury. Among these, Agudelo and Wondo especially in the short term because the USMNT needs good finishers and goal poachers.

note: that unless i missed a week or something, Robbie Rogers has not been mentioned once to one of SI, SBI, or goal.com team of the week... yet he has been called into national team duty.

has Rogers justified his position over candidates like Bedoya, Torres, and Diskerud? or even over Davis, Convey, and Shea?

welcome to how I feel... Davis & Bedoya SO deserved to be in the squad & definately deserved it over Rogers. Even Adu on his good form lately, they deserved it over him. They have been better on the stats sheet and better in arguably better leagues. Im not a turkish 2nd division expert but from what Ive seen its pretty dire.
Unlucky for Davis... He is one of our best wide mids behind LD & Deuce.

American [potential] starter in MLS.......soon to become cap'd Greek?

George John has been called up by the Greeks for a friendly.

I think a reason Davis has been left off the roster has something to do with assistant coach mike sorber. They have a history together at St. Louis University, and I don't think they like each other too much.

I am not saying this is a definite, but if you can't get along with the coach, it doesnt help your cause....just a possibility.

Mapp had a beast of a game with Philly this weekend. I'd also vouch for Davis.

Honestly not sure if this is an exasperated "what?" or something else.

I have read that this is less of a call up to be a part of the playing team and more of a "come practice with us while we're in town, see if you like it" kind of opportunity.

IMHO, John has been a beast of a CB in MLS this season. No telling if he is ready for that level, but he's damn sure earned the look. IIRC he was called for this January's camp, but couldn't make it for some reason. I assume injury.

Hopefully he impresses the Greeks and that accellerates his integration into the U.S. set up. I'd certainly like to see how he stacks up at that level and there's certainly opportunity with us.
