He sure did remember me of the Ronaldinho of Barca, especially his golaco.

I was very pleased with the game, sensational. Certainly a great way to start.

I will also be in Rio next month!! Can't wait. Maybe we can hook up to go to a game!

What have happened to Marquinhos? I remember him at Vitória where he was great. He hasn't really developed since then. Hopefully he can get back on track because I think the kid got talent and he is also a kind of player that is different from the other offensive players we have.

Why not?! I will be there from June 22 to August 2. If I'm not wrong there will be a Fla-Flu and a Fla-SP during that time.

Ceara inquired about Marquinhos for a possible loan.

Now that you mention Ceará I remember Erick Flores that was over there on loan, now at Duque de Caxias. That kid is also really talented and I actually think he should have been given more chances. Every time he played in campeonato carioca in 2009(I think) he did well and he was always a threat.

Anyway, there are so many with players with great talent in Brazil that end up being just mediocre players for different reasons.

What is maddening is the lack of information or websites/blogspots about Flamengo and all its intricate details. It is quite possible that there are plenty out there, except it is in Portuguese. I am trying to find information on the following:

    1. What is the best way to get to the Engenhao? Is it even wise to take the train. I hear the trains are not a good idea for a gringo. Or do you hire a tour operator and waste money?

    2. I have been trying in vain to find an official Olympikus Fla jersey online, other than the official club website, that will cater to the American market. I do not like buying from a site that I have never heard of. Also, where do they sell official club gear in Ipanema/Leblon? I don't like buying knockoffs whatsoever.

    3. Also, has anyone been to the club headquarters in Leblon? Do they have a club store? Can you buy a daily membership?

    4. Worse case scenario, I don't make it to the soccer game. Where is the best Fla bar to watch the game at in Ipanema/Leblon?

I would appreciate your help with this. Also, thanks to M86 for answering my question about the next season schedule.

Like you said, there are other reasons why Erick Flores hasn't developed into anything or stayed on Fla's roster. He thinks he is better than he is. He needs to take a more humble approach and work harder in training if he wants to be a first division player in Brazil.

Here you go buddy, from a comander of the torcida Raca of Mengao:

    1. What is the best way to get to the Engenhao? Is it even wise to take the train. I hear the trains are not a good idea for a gringo. Or do you hire a tour operator and waste money?

Take a cab if you already have a ticket. If you don't have a ticket, go to any 4/5 star hotel in the Ipanema Beach (Cezar Park is a good one), direct yourself to the concierge, and tell her you want a tour to the Engenhao, and they will hook you up, tickets, transportation there and back, etc.. Except you will be most probably sitting with all the gringos.

    2. I have been trying in vain to find an official Olympikus Fla jersey online, other than the official club website, that will cater to the American market. I do not like buying from a site that I have never heard of. Also, where do they sell official club gear in Ipanema/Leblon? I don't like buying knockoffs whatsoever.

Are you kidding. Just go to any sports store in Visconde de Piraja and you will find any shirt from any team, especially Mengao, the latest one.

    3. Also, has anyone been to the club headquarters in Leblon? Do they have a club store? Can you buy a daily membership?

Yeh there's a club store and you can spend the day.

    4. Worse case scenario, I don't make it to the soccer game. Where is the best Fla bar to watch the game at in Ipanema/Leblon?

In Rio we don't have bars specifically designed for people to watch games. When Mengao plays, every bar with a TV has the game tuned on.

Have fun in Rio, the most beautiful city in the world.

Thanks a lot IVO! Greatly appreciated for your info. I am now confirmed for Rio/Buzios in Feb 2012. I will be staying in Ipanema. Any recommendations for restaurants/bars/samba in Ipanema/Leblon area would be greatly appreciated. I don't plan on venturing outside of that area in night since I am not familiar with the city.

2-3 against Bahia at the moment. I'm just following the game live on globo cause I have some work to do. But they always cover the games very well by uploading the chances really quick.

Ronaldinho and Bottinelli score again but unfortunately it looks like the problems in the defense continue. We really need a good CB and also a striker as we've been talking about so many times in here.

Egidio scored too, he did a very good game last week and now he scores. He might be the surprise of the year. Diego Mauricio with the assist, he should definitely start over Wanderley.

We are negotiating with Benfica to bring back Airton, I hope we do. A little bit of a personal favorite for me. He was a beast the year we won the championship.

Juan and Alex Silva are also on the list, but it looks quite difficult to bring them.

Apparently we signed a zagueiro called Gustavo, ex- Boavista. Anyone seen him play?

EDIT: Damn! Jobson just made it 3-3.

Luxemburgo made two idiotic substitions by bringing on Jean and Fernando, two of the worst players on the squad. Fernando pretty much did EVERYTHING wrong since he stepped foot on the pitch. 2 points down the drain.

    Big throw by Luxemburgo

He's done, we should have fired him by the end of last season.

proof that Assis lied to Grêmio, may he and the entire Moreira family rot in hell.

Assis told Grêmio that the reason the dealings with Grêmio failed was because Grêmio could not pay what Milan wanted for Ronaldinho.

You should be thankful he did not go to your club, Aces. He hasn't played in years, and was finished some 4 years ago. E ele certamente nao se entenderia com o Renato Gaucho.

A few tidbits on the transfer end:

We sold Wanderley to Al-Arabi of Qatar for a good amount. The only strikers on the squad are Deivid, Diego Mauricio, Negueba and a youth player, Romario. DM and Negueba will be with the U-20s for the World Cup.

Flamengo have agreed to a fee with Hamburg and a salary with Alex Silva. The only thing needed now is his signature and he should be officially presented. I read he may be presented on Thursday.

Flamengo have officially given up on Kleber, from Palmeiras. The media is reporting we are going after Andre of Dinamo Kiev again. Recently, the head of OLK marketing department, Flamengo's athletic material sponsor, has said he would be willing to help Flamengo bring Vagner Love. I guess we will see...

Ibson has declared interest in leaving Spartak and returning to Brazil. Patricia Amorim said there is interest, but it doesn't appear to be as strong as Fluminense's, Santos' and Gremio's. I'd personally think he'd slot in perfectly for Renato Abreu, who has been poor and is overpaid. Luxemburgo may see differently.

Alex Silva feels like a good signing, but let's see him on the pitch too.

Ibson to Santos and now André to Atlético MG.

I would have liked Ibson back but about André I don't care that much. I believe we can sign someone better than him.

Amauri has been rumored, but I think the asking price is going to end up being too much.

Globoesporte is saying we may look at Ariel from Racing Santander. I don't think he's the answer to our attack.

I wish we just spent whatever it takes to get Vagner Love. He has proven he can perform under the pressure at Flamengo. We would be set with our striker position for the next 5 years.

I just hope Deivid continues to improve and become serviceable at least. I also hope Luxemburgo and Diego Mauricio settle their problems. We signed Jael from Portuguesa, but he's only coming to be a reserve -- replacing Wanderley.

I agree. Vagner Love would be perfect but it seems difficult to make a deal with CSKA.

Amauri wouldn't be a bad option either, a really good player when he plays at his best.

It's really annoying that Luxemburgo has some kind of problem with Diego Mauricio, I rate the kid really high. Do we know why he doesn't play him btw?

I'm not sure how much of it is the money CSKA wants. Apparently, Luxemburgo preferred Andre over Vagner Love just because Andre is still young and shows promise. He thinks the investment made in Andre would be wiser -- I disagree:rolleyes:

Tactically, I don't know why Luxemburgo doesn't employ DM as our starting striker. Every time he has come on, he has created dangerous opportunities. I know DM has come late to a few training sessions and any punishments given due to that has my support, but that does not explain why he doesn't play him as a starter when every thing he has done on the field has been positive.

The media is reporting that we are going after Kléber again right on the brink of our matchup with Palmeiras in São Paulo.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kléber is a good player, but I don't think he is worth all this trouble. I don't think he would work in our tactical system as the main reference in the attack. Once again, I wish they demonstrated this kind of effort for Vagner Love...

    Santos 2-0 20 minutes in....

    - Welinton at fault for both goals with Renato at fault on the 2nd as well.
    - Deivid misses an open netter in the small area. UN-FING-BELIVABLE!
    - Willians playing extremely well.....calling Ralf over him is a joke.
