We actually won a PK shootout. I'd forgotten what that was like.

I officially take back my strike-through from earlier tonight . . . until the next USOC game that is.

    I've been saving this.

This after years of PK frustration needs to be let loose.

Nope, we're 4 days past that my friend. We actually won a PK shoot out 4 days after the scheduled end of the world.

Better late than never . . . wait.

I think we'd have been better off with Sean Johnson taking a PK in Pause's place. Pause is 0 for 2 in PK shootouts now.

If I remember right Zach was quite the PK taker back in the day and took one for us in 2005 against New England in the Open Cup and scored.

Not sure how well the Quakes radio guy described the match, but seeing as how I attended I thought I'd add a few thoughts.

Sega's red was overkill. The Quakes guy Stephenson went in really hard, and it was an ugly challenge. While the players were surrounding the ref demanding red for the challenge, Sega and Lenhart got into each others face and when Sega sorta made a gesture like "get outta here" Lenhart dramatically stumbled back, though from my perspective no contact was made. The ref came right over and gave him a red. The wrong decision to me. How do you give a yellow for a nasty tackle in play, and then a red for dissent and arguing afterwards?

I didn't get there 'til the 2nd half so I didn't see the first two goals, but it looked like the first Fire goal was sorta miss hit, but had enough on it to make it across the goalmouth and into the net. The 2nd Fire goal was really bad. Webber couldn't handle an easy header, dropped it on the ground, and then when he reached out to grab it again, pushed it over the goal line. Just terrible.

Anyway, a win is a win, and I'll take it however it comes. Especially the way this season is shaping up.

It sounded like Johnson dropped another cross or just couldn't hold onto the ball on one of the SJ goals, so it looks like there was some bad goalkeeping both ways.

How well did you think Johnson played in the 2nd half?

Thanks to everyone that posted...I felt like I wasn't there either, but I enjoyed reading about our victory this morning...here's some rep for everyone:

Just take a piece and pass it on...loonixxx, you can take the "p"...you earned it.

    :D

I am very proud of Pause on his PK...I was worried he was going to pass it backwards...

This might be one of the funniest things I've ever read on BS, if it wasn't 100% true/serious!

Thanks for the link to the audio. Well, they are still in it. I don't think that they will win, but they made it this far. Too bad that they will be without Sega in the next match.

Man, I wish Busch had been in front of SJ's goal for the penalties! That would have been sweeeeeeeeeet.

He didn't have anyone to pass it to. Personally, I don't think that he should ever take penalties again. I mean, the guy is just not that good with his feet when facing an opponent's goal. So why have him in the first 5 on penalties? Their keeper can literally sit it out, and Pause would find a way to screw it up. Should have been Pause who had gotten red carded. Then we might have a chance to win the Cup!
