I went up there today with my family, picked-up my tickets and went inside. My kids loved sitting in the Field Club seats. Did anyone notice if cup-holders had been installed? I can't believe that I forgot to look.
I seem to have only one issue now that I look in my box, no season opener parking pass. Have all the other games but the first one is missing.
You're better-off than the STH that follows my last name. He must have purchased an extra Newcastle ticket and two extra Gold Cup tickets, because they were in my box.
I got the big stack of parking passes but the first one is for the Gold Cup games and not the home opener, which wasn't loose in the box either.
Some (all?) of east midfield is apparently in Lot C as well. I did not know that. Learn something new every day
It's definitely finalized. It's the easternmost lot on the other side of State Avenue. You can see the map on the back of the passes for reference.
I love the style of the stadium and I am not referring to the overall style but all of the small things like the signs and what not. It is a very modern look to it and I love it. I am glad I went today and was able to just walk freely through the stadium. For those thinking about not going, I would strongly recommend changing your mind because this might be the only time you can just stroll through all of the sections, get down on the field, and see everything without a huge crowd.
Didn't have time to post yesterday, but I was very impressed with the stadium. For a kid that grew up about a half a mile away, it still amazes me that anything is out there at all, let alone three stadiums. While I'm down on the team right now, I am uber psyched for June 9th. Even though we're at the bottom of the table, I am excited to know that we'll see many wins and exciting moments in our own stadium for years to come.
I took my wife and 9 month old daughter yesterday. Stunned and speechless. As good as all the photos are they don't do it justice. Wow. The huge screen in huuuugggge. The pitch looks great, sight lines look great and the little touches on signage etc are very cool. I am tempted to go again tonight.
going tonight w/ wife, dad, and mom. a bit of a lift as well to help deal with the teams form/trying to stay excited
Gooch said on his blog that there was a letter from Sasha in the box with the tickets. I didn't get that....anybody else missing a letter? Is there any important details in there that I need to have, or is it just a welcome letter? I got my tickets, parking passes, and the voucher for the scarf.
Getting off work at 2:30 this afternoon, heading straight out to LSP...wander around a bit and get to the trailer at 4:00.
Yeah, there was a letter. I didnt read it but I did see that it highlighted the member benefits we have seen before.
So just to recap, for those who have yet to get their tickets, here's what should be in your box: - You tickets. Flip thru them. Make sure you have all of them. The Gold Cup and Newcastle tickets should also be there. - Your parking passes. Flip thru them. Make sure you have all of them. Some people apparently don't have one for the opener. - A voucher for you STH scarf. - A letter from Sasha that I didn't read.
When I saw the box I thought that either our scarfs were in it or maybe there was a commemorative t-shirt like they gave the first ever season tickets holders in 1996.
You would have enjoyed seeing my jaw dropping. I was gobsmacked. Actually it still hasn't suck in. I don't think it will until we kick off on June 9th and then my allergies will flare up and those moistened eyes you see will be because of all the pollen in the air. Yeah that's it. I have a lot I want to say about the journey from 1996 to now, the original HASF meeting at Greg Cotton's office downtown, the city council meeting in OP, the Parks and Rec meeting in Shawnee Mission Park, HASF meetings at Naster's house, picking up "YES for soccer" signs with my daughters from Sam P. in downtown OP, posting said signs everywhere and on and on ... Is this really happening? It is the shiniest, biggest Christmas present under the tree. I sneaked a peek last night before Christmas .... and it is even better than what I asked for. It's probably a present for my little brother ...
Sigh. I was dumbstruck by the stadium, but really disappointed in how I was treated. I was lead out of the stadium. I walked in and was taken aback. You guys are right, the pictures don't do the stadium any justice. I immediately went to the member's stand and sat down to absorb it all. It was just an amazing feeling to be in there and see this gorgeous stadium. A few minutes later, a guy walked up to me and told me I had to leave. "Could I at least do a really quick walk around? I just got here and have only been to this part of the stadium." "Nope, gotta go". He then started leading me out of there, which was embarrassing to me. Finally started to tell me the rest of the way out and I just interrupted and said, "Yeah, I know the way" and left the stadium alone (with people still in there). At least my group wasn't told that we had a really limited amount of time. I really was not in there very long at all. Just a few minutes. There was still people walking around that I came in with. I can understand the limited number of hardhats, but I'm just one guy with one hat, not a whole group. A little warning ahead of time would've been much appreciated. Disappointing, but I would've understood. Or at the very least kindly asked to finish up and start heading out, not lead off (Afterwards, I decided that I know knew what it was like to be red carded. Only yellow cards for me when I played ). I probably wouldn't have taken as badly if I hadn't already had a poor day on top of a really poor past month. But for some people, this visit was purely to just see their seat. But for me and like with many of you, its a chance to really see this amazing stadium with our own eyes before the crowds. Waited months and months watching through a little webcam to only be led out. To see the stadium was literally to only reason I drove all the way up there. I gave them money I barely have for season tickets, a little courtesy would've been nice...
I'll second that the dudes inside the stadium weren't necessarily the friendliest and didn't seem excited to be there. After an attendant spent a minute telling me everything I couldn't touch and places I couldn't go (which I understand), I asked him if there's anything he recommended that I check out. His response was "I dunno man, it's pretty much just a stadium." That aside, the stadium looked great. You can tell the acoustics were well-designed. The grass looks great, the members club looks like it's coming along (though the attendant was unable to tell me anything about it other than it would have tables, tvs, and beer). The best part, though, is the seating. I was amazed how great the views are from the members stand. If you're in the front row, you're literally a meter away from the field. And if you're on the side section of the member's stand toward midfield, you have close to the best seats in the entire place.
Wait, they kicked you out and were unpleasant? Last night, we were allowed to go where we pleased that was open and I was left alone by the white polos except while walking in. Sounds like the experience was lessened tonight for some reason.
I caved and went down there today. Just couldn't wait any longer. The stadium is seriously impressive. You get inside of that thing and it's just gorgeous. I can't wait until June 9th. I'm really glad I decided to go. I agree with the comments about the cheapness of the seats. They feel like flimsy plastic. I weigh 150 and I feel like I could break one of 'em by sitting at the edge of my seat. I also found the two seats in the SE corner that folded on top of each other. I grabbed a construction worker, showed it to him, and told him to tell his foreman. He seemed a bit uninterested, but hopefully the message will get through. Hard to believe that place will be completely ready in 2 and a half weeks, still quite a bit to be done it looks like. Anywho, overall a very exciting trip and I'm ready for the the home season to get underway!
