Diego Mauricio had a nice play on the left flank where he beat his man go into the box and had Botinelli open across the box for an easy goal. Unfortunately, he didn't have the vision for that and decided to shoot right at Berna.

I'm baffled as to why Luxa doesn't think R10 and Drogbinha can't play together. I'd like to see it happen.

Amazing how Luxa killed the team with his subs. Deivid was having a good game compared to his other performances and Botinelli was the best player on the pitch for us. He took both of them out for Wanderley and Fierro (god awful).

The team will change to the better if Vagner Love come back. I said it before as well, that I think he has much more to offer Mengão than Adriano.

I agree with you though Mengão86, Luxa has never been one of my favorite coaches. This team can play so much better.

    WTF!!! We lost against Ceará!

Seriously I don't know what Deivid is still doing in Mengão. He has a huge contract and doesn't offer the team anything. Wanderley does much more and he isn't even a very good player, but he is a scorer and chases every possible chance.

I agree. I've tried supporting Deivid throughout his time here. I was even a defender of his signing, but he simply doesn't have it anymore.

We probably played our best game as far as creating chances. Unfortunately, our two mistakes costed us goals and we also got lucky when Geraldo missed a shot off a cross within the small box in the PK area.

I am also disapointed with Deivid and would even much prefer Diego Mauricio. Truth is we are still missing a striker. A sad night for us. 1st loss after 26 games and 1st loss under Luxa. Not bad Luxa.
I am confident we will turn it around next wednesday in Ceara.

I doubt it. He still has several big European clubs that would like him.

Yeah I doubt it too. But it would be really cool if he came.

I think he said that he wants to play for Mengão at some point in his career. So maybe it's not completely impossible for him to come in the future.

I wouldn't at all be surprised, Forlan's been linked with numerous South American clubs, also Tottenham and Barcelona most recently. All these link's/rumours are telling me his/club's agent's or some journalist are bigging up the press to make them aware Forlan is avaliable.

I'm going to Rio next month and if I'm not wrong we play São Paulo and Fluminense at the time.

2 games I can't miss. I never been to Engenhão though, anyone know how to get tickets for the games?

I guess my friends there know how, but I'm not sure they been to Engenhão either, so it's worth to ask.

Last game I went to was Flamengo vs Atlético MG in 2008. Game ended 0-3 so they blamed the loss on me:eek:

Apparently I brought bad luck to the team, because the game after that we didn't go to Maracanã and Mengão won against Palmeiras with 5-2:p

Fellas, I am 90% sure of going to Rio in February 2012 for our 10th anniversary. My wife wanted someplace warm and I wanted some place fun to go to. Caribbean doesn't do it for me. Anyway, anyone have a clue to when the schedule for 2012 would come out. I know the new 2011 season starts shortly: next week I think. I would love to go to a Flamengo game and of course they are not in the Maracana at the moment due to renovations. Tips would greatly be appreciated.

Schedules should come out sometime early next year. Engenhão will probably be the most likely stadium.

Estou de pé! Que show! Easily, Ronaldinho's best game. A golaço, an assist, a ball that helped set up the first goal, beautiful dribbles...This was the type of performance we have been waiting to see from him. That's two good games in a row out of him. Hopefully, he can continue.:D

Yeah Ronaldinho did a very good game today. Thiago Neves showed class too, with a little bit more luck he would've scored one or two more.

Very nice 2nd half. Good start of the season!

Yea Avai really fell off thier legs in the 2nd half, you played fantastic there and had loads of room to operate.

I'm still not that impressed tho if i'm honest..you have potential to be alot better.. slowly you'll get there tho.

Dinho assist to Diego Mauricio was ace.. goal was Real Madrid-Barcelona esque from the Bernabeu game :D great start for you guys.

Willians is just a choo-choo train, love this player.

Júnior César, a leftback from São Paulo, with stints at Fluminense and Botafogo, has agreed to terms of a contract with Flamengo. Flamengo needs to work out a deal out with São Paulo for him to become our #6.

Oddly enough, Egídio also had one of his better games today. I still rather have a more reliable player in Júnior César as our left back. Hopefully, we can land a CB like Juan and a top class striker such as Vágner Love or even someone like André, ex-Santos.

I agree that we have room to improve. Our defense looked shaky at times. David Braz gave away a stupid ball and Wellinton is extremely unreliable. I think the arrival of a good, experienced CB will help our problems there.

I also am not a fan of Wanderley. Sure, he fights for every ball and presses the opponent, but I would rather have someone who has the class to score and create. Wanderley is limited.

Other than those two aspects, I'm fairly satisfied. We have improved a lot since the start of the year. I think our elimination vs Ceará was a turning point. I liked what I saw for the most part. Unfortunately, Ronaldo Angelim's sent off hurt us.

Júnior César is a good player so I believe he will help the team. I read that he lost his space at São Paulo though, don't tell me Juan took his place. Because he sucked for us during last season.:p

Diego Mauricio is our best striker at the moment, I'm not a big fan of Wanderley either but I think he is a good player to have on the bench though. I still hope for Vágner Love, he is the perfect striker for us IMO. André wouldn't be bad either though.

Juan from Roma would be really difficult to sign right now I think.
