Hamit Altintop joins Real Madrid by way of Schalke 04 and most recently Bayern Munich. He won one German League Cup (DFL-Ligapokal) with the first and two Bundesliga titles, two German Cups (DFP-Pokal) and two German Super Cups (Premiere Ligapokal / DFL-Ligapokal) with the Bavarian powerhouse. In 2010 the now 28-year old earned the FIFA Puskas Award for his volley against Kazakhstan in a Euro 2012 qualifier. Other individual accolades include being named to the UEFA Euro 2008 Team of the Tournament.

Altintop was born on 8 December 1982 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, but as a Turkish citizen has been capped 64 caps times and scored six goals for Turkey. He is a versatile midfielder who can play on either end of the pitch as well as on either flank. Altintop spent his early days Schwarz-Weis Gelgenkirchen, Tus Rotthausen and Wattenscheid 09 before spending four seasons at Shalke 04 and later signing for Bayern Munich is 2007.

In 2005/06 he scored his only Champions League goal while on duty with Schalke, and four seasons later with Bayern he was named Man-of-the-Match in the first leg of the quarterfinal tie against Manchester United.

The first time Altintop set foot on the Bernabeu turf was for the 2009/10 Champions League final against Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan. He has played in 14 matches and scored two goals for Bayern this season.

This. Depth was not an issue with this team, we are making unnecessary changes yet again. If we sell Benzema and buy Kun it's just another proof that this club has lost it.

I think we will find him to be a pleasant surprise here. Mourinho knows what kind of players he wants in order to be as competitive as possible, and I think he must be this sort of player. The fact that he is adept at several different positions is key, and the fact that he was a free transfer is a great bonus.

Give the fella a chance. Welcome to Real Madrid, my son. :D

Like I said before, his versatility in several positions, as well as the suspensions/injuries we're sure to get, the tactical changes/resting of players that will be necessary, playing in three competitions, as well as shipping out of certain players, I imagine he'll get a decent amount of playing time.

Here's hoping he impresses during those chances, and causes Mou to have to make some difficult choices. I also expect him to be reinvigorated by the opportunity to start fresh with Real Madrid. I think he'll prove useful.

    Experianced quality versatile player.
He can play right wing back and both offensive wings, aswell anyplace at the midfield area...
Ones I heard Feldkamp aka Kalli said His best position is box to box and behind forward. duo to his powerful stamina, energy, strong phycial body and powerful shots from long and short range.

Hamit play and perform very very well at National Team. Therefor I suggest dont rate(minus plus) him by his Bayern jersey games...ie; why didint gets much game times etc.

This Guy realy very good at Tactical games. His tactical understanding very good , in NT games ,he is the first player that that coach's first option to tell tactical movements etc. He never give up, a winner additude, full concantrade to the game , help his teammates in the game at defens and offense. He is a leader additude and leader of the National Team alongside Emre Belozoglu.

    Overall:

If He gets chance, I believe He will give his best to the Real Madrid.

Very smart choice in terms of players ability ,versality, experiances, talents vice.

I wish Him best luck. Well done Jose.

    regards,

Well, he's here now so I've gotta support him no matter what I think. No use crying over spilled Turkish role players. Welcome Hamit, and good luck!

I think Roxbury just underscored why Mourinho selected to grab this guy on the free. If Roxbury's analysis of the player is accurate, the "fact" that he has great stamina/workrate/energy, physical strength, is a leader on the pitch, and has excellent tactical understanding/discipline all points to the qualities of the type of soldier on the pitch preferred by Mourinho.

I don't have very much experience watching this guy at all, so I can't give my opinion based on first-hand experience, but if what Roxbury says is true, then Mou seems to have gotten another steal.

    Exactly how I feel.

Though I have to say, in my Master League in PES 2009, he is the best striker I have ever had on any game.

    Seriously Altintop?
I love to see young midfielders from the castilla break through, but with Hamit on the bench their oppurtunities are getting a lot weaker. Hamit only began 3 matches for Bayern this season.. Yes he has got a lot of experience, but haven't we got enough of that with carvalho, xabi, san iker? It looks like he is a replacement for Pedro Leon. But I don't get exited about this player. I hope Jose has a good plan with him..

Cant really comment on Hamit. But since he is here, i wish him the best of luck and hope he can make the most of the chances he gets. Maybe, he could people wrong.

There isn't too much to complain in terms of the transfer cost because he is free. So, if he does do well, it could well be a steal.

Overall, Hamit it's time to do the talking on the pitch.

I'm more familiar with his performances with Turkey (Was the main force behind Turkey's epic 3-2 comeback against the Czech Republic in Euro 2008)... Hard worker, can play multiple positions. He comes on a free and Mourinho sees a role for him and I trust Mou 100%. I see him as a replacement for Pedro León although they are very different. Altintop is better at tracking back and defending, if we are chasing a game I could see Mourinho pull a defender and have Altintop shift his position to accommodate the change.
