Re: From the "They told me if I voted for McCain our President would be a doofus" department 'laser focused on jobs' at last!!
Re: From the "They told me if I voted for McCain our President would be a doofus" department And if he didn't say this shit, people would say he's doing nothing about jobs. Rock and a hard place...poor guy.
Re: From the "They told me if I voted for McCain our President would be a doofus" department What are you talking about? Exactly how many jobs does Obama's display of economic ignorance "save or create".
Re: From the "They told me if I voted for McCain our President would be a doofus" department Focused on jobs? I think you misspelled "fuck us".
Re: From the "They told me if I voted for McCain our President would be a doofus" department Certainly not John Ensign's...bazinga.
Nearly 20 percent of new Obamacare waivers are gourmet restaurants, nightclubs, fancy hotels in Nancy Pelosi’s district http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailycaller...tclubsfancyhotelsinnancypelosie28099sdistrict Oh yeah, and we hit the debt ceiling yesterday so your social security money is being used to fund the government. Lovely, eh? (Disclaimer: This is a fail on both sides)
Not to split hairs here, because lord knows I respect the intention behind the post. However... Nancy Pelosi's district is California's 8th District which is pretty much what we know as "San Francisco". There are parts of SF that fall outside of it, but really, for the most part they are the outlying "suburbs" of the city (Daly City, the outer Sunset, too I think). I'm a little disappointed that this article fails to mention that these restaurants, hotels, spa's, etc represent a tourism industry that's worth about 8 billion-with-a-B dollars to California. No, it's not a car factory in Birmingham, but it's a massive industry that employs thousands upon thousands of people. So as someone who grew up in an honest tax-paying middle-class family that happened to derive its income from the hospitality industry, I take offense and the snotty-ass attitude of this writer chortling at the idea of someone trying to run a decent restaurant.
Point well taken. I just wonder if other tourist cities (NY, Chicago, Miami, Etc.) got the same treatment. BTW, does it make me a snob if a $59 porterhouse or a $39 filet doesn't shock me?
Oh, I'm sure Nancy's doing her part, don't get me wrong. And the whole waiver issue is nauseating. I just wish there wasn't the ********ing culture warrior attitude behind it. And I say this as an Angeleno (who admittedly lived in SF for a few years during grad school, got married there, and still has family there). I was gonna say the same thing! I mean, that's a decent price in lots of places, especially in somewhere like Manhattan.
It's hard to take any "news" article seriously that uses the term "Obamacare.". That suggests such a huge bias that there is virtually no credibility from that point forward.
Metaphorically speaking, we don't have to refer to a pile of shit as "Fecal Matter" for us to correctly and factually assert that it stinks.
You're an idiot. This whole waivers nonsense pisses me off. I understand the economic rationale, but it's being abused like a pork-barrel project. And we're going to have to endure years of debate on waivers in all kinds of legislation before some President in the future realizes they're a shitty idea.
Good point, Chris. I would also add, who the ******** cares which district? Is Pelosi supposed to be responsible for the private businesses in her district? Classic example of lazy argumentation. You're just supposed to make connections between your "team" and the "enemy." You're not supposed to ask why.
It's not a news article, it's an op-ed piece masquerading as a news article. Internet journalism, such as it is.
Sure does when you can get a delicious $9.99 Sirloin steak at Sizzler with free refills and a dessert.
Funny, I was told the # of new waivers would dwindle down to nothing after Dec enrollment deadlines passed.
Seems like they were trying to ask and getting no answers. Are the numbers in dispute? If not, that's the 'why' I'm interested in. Why does 1 district out of 435 gets 20% of waivers?
A better question is if Pelosi's district has received a disproportionate share of waivers every round of applications...if nobody from her district got waivers beforehand, then you should look at the overall picture. If it's every round that she's got waivers disproportionately, then yes a red flag ought to go up. Is this the case?
Why are you asking us? Ask the piece of shit author who wrote the "news" article. Did he ask anyone why? Or did he simply see an opportunity to bash without a need to connect the dots. I don't waste my time trying to confirm or discredit crap journalism. I just recognize what it is and move on. If you want answers, go find them.
I'm asking in general. Maybe you know more about this than I do since you are in the country. I don't know.
The implication here is that the waiver process bears some resemblance to West Point and Annapolis appointments-- that Congresspeople "get" them for constituents? Is it true? Or are Pelosi's constituents merely the ones applying or getting the applications correct or something? Anyone know how the process works?
