A bit of relevant news ... http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...acke-expects-de-rosario-to-skip-gold-cup.html
He did play pretty well in that 2007 match but I can't say that he'd that much of a threat at this point in his career, other than set-pieces.
Depends here, he's 20; he's normally a right winger. On England we all know its Walcott followed by Lennon for that position. Both are 22 and 24 respectfully. That potentially is a long hold-out time just saying. On the flip side will Terry Dunfield be brought along?
Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but if Costa Rica is indeed playing in the Copa this summer what effect (if any) would that have on their Gold Cup squad? I would assume they would operate the way the U.S. did in 2007. Send their A-team to Gold Cup and B-team to Copa.
I believe that Concacaf is requiring that Mexico and anybody else who might go take only a U-23 team.
What do you make of this then? 26 year old Roy Miller has been pegged by Costa Rica for the Copa and not the Gold Cup. http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=27209 Although the source looks questionable I've found that bigapplesoccer is usually on the mark.
Mehico announced GK: Ochoa, Corona, Talavara DF: Moreno, Salcido, Duenas, Juarez, Zavala, Rodriguez, Marquez MF: Torrado, Sinha, Perez, Osorio, Barrera, Guardado, Castro, Nilo FW: De Nigris, Reyna, Hernandez, Dos Santos, Chicharito
Only one Dos Santos? Wasn't the Dos Santos' family surprised/upset that Jona didn't make the WC team, not much less the GC team? Edit: He'll probably go to Copa America.
I've heard good things about Reyna but haven't had the chance to see him play. Still surprised at no Vela or Jona though to be honest.
