Javier Hernandez 8 - Took the chance that mattered, ran the line tirelessly.

Jonathan Evans 7.5 - That's more like it.
Chris Smalling 7.5 - So, so good.

van der Sar - 6 - little to do but made the required saves (notably the Kalou one)
Fabio - 4 - average in both directions
    Ferdinand - 5 - fine
    Vidic - 5 - fine

    Carrick - 5 - solid

    Park - 6 - great energy/running but passing/touch became very slack
Rooney - 5 - good early shots but fizzled out and wasted lots of chances through slow play

Evans - 5 - solid but needs to do more going forward
    Smalling - N/A - late sub

Edwin Van der Sar 8.5 - Loved the *whew* moment he had after Chelsea's speculative long shot landed on the roof of his net. :D
Fabio Da Silva 6.5 - Enthusiastic display.
Rio Ferdinand 7.5 - Glad the awkward landing he had didn't amount to much.
Nemanja Vidic 7.5 - Thrilled to have him as our captain.
John O'Shea 7 - Looked comfortable out there.
Antonio Valencia 8.5 - I always love seeing A. Hole get smoked. Could have been a 9+ but for some indecision when bearing down on net.
Michael Carrick 8 - Did his job to a T.
Ryan Giggs 8.5 - Magnificent display. Such a legend.
Ji-Sung Park 8.5 - 10 for the first half, 7 for the second. He was still very good in the latter stages, just looked gassed and/or a bit panicked in possession by turns. But what a first half he had.
Wayne Rooney 8 - Dropped deep, did his thing, had some nice passes and some nice strikes on goal early in the match. There were a couple times when he shot where he should have passed or dribbled when he should have shot.
Javier Hernandez 7.5 - Should have had at least a hat-trick, and was typically mediocre in possession. Still, his movement brings so much to our team's play, and the early lead he gave us was massive.

Jonathan Evans 8.5 - Dominant display, with a nice cheeky passage pf play for good measure.
Chris Smalling 8 - Solid in the back, impressive going forward.

    I lol'ed.

    1. Edwin Van der Sar - 8 - Solid as always. Wish he would stay another year.
    20. Fabio Da Silva - 7 - Like Raf, needs to learn some restraint. Love his fiery attitude though.
    5. Rio Ferdinand - 8 - Calm and composed.
    15. Nemanja Vidic - 7.5 - Destroyer.
    22. John O'Shea - 7 - Not too bad. Offered nothing going forward but did the job on defense.
    25. Antonio Valencia - 9 - Only thing keeping him from a 10 is the final ball. I have never seen anyone own Ashley Cole like V1000 does. V1000 owns Cashley.
    16. Michael Carrick - 7.5 - Officially back to his pre-Barca form.
    11. Ryan Giggs - 8.5 - Legend, simple has that.
    13. Ji-Sung Park - 9 - Best game for United. Tired late on but his first half was an easy 10.
    10. Wayne Rooney - 8 - Did his thing. Needs to take his chances better.
    14. Javier Hernandez - 7.5 - Clinical goal, but should have had 3 today.

    23. Jonathan Evans - 7.5 - I feel like Evans is going to have a big year next season. He is finally finding his form again after a terrible year.
    12. Chris Smalling - 7.5 - Love seeing him skip out of the back.

    Extras:
Howard Webb - (-7) - Tried his best to ******** us at every turn.
Fergie - 10 - Excellent lineup and really had the boys up for it early on.
Transfers - 10 - I feel confident saying that Chicharito has been the buy of the year in all of football if you consider his price and what he has accomplished. Especially with teams like Chelsea and Barca breaking the bank on Torres and Villa, who Chicharito has vastly outperformed this season. Also, Smalling (a relative unknown before the season) has shown he has what it takes to be a future United starter for years to come when Rio calls it quits.

Just take the scores as out of 8 to offset the whole ego stroking thing.

MOM - Carrick and Giggs share it. I can't believe how well Carrick has played over the past few months when partnered with Giggs in the middle. To bad Giggs is not a bit younger. They have turned in some oustanding performances. Perhaps it's due to clearly defined roles. Carrick, hold and shield the back four. Giggs attack, attack, attack.

Everyone good to great. Special mentions:
Park - how many balls did he win in the first 20 min?!
VDS - i dont know what's more important, the calm he brings which allows us to play out of the back, or the ability to make that one save from an out of the blue chance. the difference this year.
Giggs - Kalou still looking for him....
    Valencia - Wow.
Carrick - when on form, Utd win titles.
Wayne - 7.5 on the day, good performance aside from the (unfortunate) finishing, BUT.... would have been a 12 if THAT shot had gone.

I have always had 5 as my default 'fine'. Fabio gets docked a point because he did little in both directions. Unlike others I value consistency over erratic and ultimately futile extremes.

    1. Edwin Van der Sar - 8 - So calm and reassuring it beggars belief. Why can't he be ten years younger......

    20. Fabio Da Silva (88) - 6 - Decent enough. I like his style, he's far more easy going than his hot head brother.

    5. Rio Ferdinand - 7.5 - Commanding and authoritive.

    15. Nemanja Vidic - 8 - Solid, dependable and a great goal. He's priceless.

    22. John O'Shea (46) - 6.5 - Solid if unspectacular. Offered little going forweard but weas strong enough defensively. First things first......

    25. Antonio Valencia - 7.5 - Cole will have woken up several times last night in cold sweats. Really gave Chelsea a hard time yesterday.

    16. Michael Carrick 7.5 - Calm, composed, and played some lovely passes. Let's hope he can play like this against Barcelona, and not have them destroy his mojo again.

    11. Ryan Giggs 8 - Legend. That is all.

    13. Ji-Sung Park 8.5 - MOTM. Great game yesterday. Ran himself into the ground, his passing was good, his tackling even better. One of our most most important players. I love it that other teams fans don't rate him so much.

    10. Wayne Rooney - 7 - Good game, if not breathtaking. His movement was good and he clearly enjoys playing with Hernandez.

    14. Javier Hernandez - 7 - Great finish for the opener, but he perhaps could have got himself one more, maybe two. His movement causes all sorts of trouble for opposing defenders.

    23. Jonathan Evans (46) - 7 - Hopefully he'll carry on getting better again. The last 12 months or so have been terrible for him.

    12. Chris Smalling (88) - 7 - What a great debut season he's had. Always looks confident and comfortable.

So "average" is worse than "fine" and also worse than average?
