I'd like to ignore you, that's for sure. :D

Glad to ruffle your feathers a little.

No, they wouldn't be in funk now, yes, they'd be riding high if they'd won, but that wasn't my point now was it? This can teach them and strengthen in ways only adversity can. It'll test their character like winning never could. Just ask Kreis. That's what he said we would find out now, the character of this team. Adversity tests character like winning never can.

It's not fun to lose, but it certainly is very revealing. It may make this team even better.

That wasn't a one time shot. I know that some people think it is, that all is lost, but is it really?

    Now...carry on.

I have never found what you say that enjoyable, either.:p

Aiming to ruffle a few feathers. My job is done.

    Ah, all is crystal clear.

    ----

At the moment we just don't seem to have any strikers, so some others are going to have to step up.

Score early is key, every. single. time. When they do that the game is theirs most of the time! In fact, it often becomes a blow out. I am so ready to see another RSL win with some disparity between scores.

Is it fun in your world, where you ignore the actual point of a post?

God, I now know what it must feel like to be 15 to 32

Wow. I haven't seen a meltdown of this magnitude on BS since, well, since before we won the cup. We've lost two games (granted, one was a HUGE game), and we're ready to throw in the towel? Good Ghandi, some of you need to step back from the computer and decompress before posting.

These are the team stats as of today:
    Record: 6-3-1
Goals For: 17 (9 came from CCL)
Goals Against: 8 (6 came from CCL)

    Goals Scored:
    Javier Morals - 5
    Sabo - 2
    Andy - 2
    Espy - 2
    Paulo - 2
    Beckerman - 1
    Olave - 1
    Borchers - 1
    Scholar - 1

    Goals By Position
    Forward - 6
    Midfield - 8
    Defender - 3

To say we don't have any forwards is crazy. They are producing, both on goals and assists. Now, if you're saying they're injured, I'll buy it. Otherwise, calm down and go have a glass of Ovaltine (the kids in those commercials are always happy). I don't think 2 games is worth hitting the panic button. Things will turn around and we'll be back on course for the Supporter's Shield.

And to say the Jazz have always sucked is just being stupid. You're either oblivious or on the Jazz hater band wagon. They've been one of the most consistent franchises over the part 20 years, rarely missing the playoffs and making the finals twice. Only 7 or 8 teams won the championship during that time period, so you can't use that as your measuring stick. [/end rant]

Wow, talk about a thread that went straight to the sh*tter. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Firstly the idea that our forwards ain't performing that well isn't fiction its a fact at least in part. Its mostly derived from Sabo pining for the turf of Costa Rica. Completely solvable. Espy is performing exactly the same as last season. He's never been a goal a game kind of forward like we'd love to have but he does do one hell of a lot of work and his goals usually come in bunches. Like I said previously in this thread before it went all apeshite, RSL will either win this one 4-0 or continue the drought at nil all.

Other considerations that will probably play into this next game. Marcia is back in the hospital so we can probably take Andy from the starting 11 this week. Paulo is out for a bit to rest his hammy back to health and Sabo is nursing his knee a bit as well.

The more less than stellar news that comes out this week makes me think we should realistically accept that a tie is exactly what we're going to see and if we pull a win, then consider it good fortune. I'm not ready to surrender to EMBRATSU quite yet, but I think resetting our expectations down a bit till they get back on track might be wise.

"Thank you all for your support, yes we're faced with another hurdle but once again with all of the prayers and well wishes she continues to fight." Andy's tweet last night.

I for one am looking foreword to saturday. Yes chivas has won their last few, but as mentioned before they were to two of the worst teams in the league right now. I'm excited to see them get back to what they do, WIN.

we havent score in 180 minutes of soccer and look to be missing 3, or possibly more, key players to the RSL puzzle: Andy, Sabo, and Paulo (Olave, Borchers, and Espy on the maybe list).

Someone explain where the goals will come from?

Does Chivas think Alvarez is right footed? Please?

I like to imagine "canyonvue" - the poster formerly known as traveller - as an uneducated soccer fan, just getting into the game, who has a background in both cheer-leading and stupidity (or the same thing) and took logic classes from a blind squirrel.

Also, for those of you that made the trip to Portland, I think she is that, um, woman who was screaming in the away section at the top of her lungs the most retarded chants, if you could even call them that.
    "Come on REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL"
    - in a voice that could break glass.

If you went, you know who I am talking about. Even if you were plastered drunk.

Let's focus on the game. If you want to discuss other items outside of the Chivas game, create a NSR thread or PM.

    yes, game.

Who starts up top is a huge question mark to me. Are we really going to combine Espy with Alvarez? Might as well tell their outside left back he can take the night off if that is the case. NOBODY is going right

Last I heard the doctors had found bleeding in her lungs. Not a good sign. I don't know if that means that the lukemia is back, or if another cancer has taken it's place, or if it is something completely different. What I do know is that this sucks. That family has been through so much over the past couple of years. I really hope things turn toward the better for all of them.

Arnoux is still far from ready. Two saturdays ago he pulled up in the middle of practice, said his knee was bothering him. So, he's still on the mend. I did notice that Nelson cracked the 18 on Saturday v Portland. I would LOVE to see him get some time. He was really creative and dangerous at times last year. I think he would bring a lot of what Paulo brings (well, I hope at least....). Chinn could go. I wouldn't mind seeing him get some time at all. Really, this game could be dangerous for us if we can't score.

So......Here's hoping that somebody or somthing lights a fire under the teams collective ass to get 3 points at home.

blood in her lungs could mean A LOT of things, especially if she is still immuno-compromised in any way shape or form. the amount of medication she's probably still on is really rough on her body, especially after undergoing a bone marrow transplant. thats probably one of the more comprehensive and life changing surgeries a person can undergo, more so than something like your average organ transplant.

im not sure of the first common metastasis area of leukemia, i think its the thyroid though. those probably would have been pretty damaged following chemo/radiation though. lungs make sense, your marrow is a leading supplier of a lot of different blood cells and the lungs tend to be a breading ground for cancers of the blood.

thoughts and prayers to andy, marcia and the entire williams family. way more important than the silly game of soccer to be sure.

AA might fare better with Espindola, as Fabian creates more space with his runs than Saborio does with his trap and turn/distribute.

Alternative: Sub Schuler and put Olave in Striker mode for the final 20. He's a force in the box both ways. I still love the way we rotated Borchers and Olave as second target forwards in the box at the end of the Monterrey game. It was nice desperation tactics.

There are two areas of our offense where I think we could create more.

The first is shots from about 18-20 yards out. We have space and possession there, but we rarely crack it...and our percentages this year have sucked, half our shots are near-orbital.

Complementing that - we rarely make runs to the posts - something we were always taught to do in HS - to deal with rebounds and deflections. In the last few games we've seen several balls limp out near the posts, or dribble harmlessly off the keepers hands only to be slurped up. Espi alone has created this situation 3-4 times this year, and we've had zero runners.

I know we try to stay compact, but I'd like to see our mids making post runs when we crack shots. There are goals to be had there if we'll expend the energy. There's also a bigger counterattack risk, so I'm sure Jason has his reasons for keeping the mids where they are tactically.

When RSL has been playing well, they move well off the ball and make those runs. That was particularly absent against Portland. There were at least two rebounds that could and should have been easy goals.

I really hope we destroy los Goats. Just annihilate them. Justin's mom has another episode in the south goal, tears are shed by his entire family due to the emotional stress caused by the beating.

oh yeah, and we take 3 points. That too.

We really need someone besides Johnson willing to shoot from distance. Its the only way we are going to get teams out of a shell. Of course, those shots have to be dangerous or else the team will welcome the shots with open arms.

We typically suck in games that are played during the day. Hopefully the weather isn't overly hot (its supposed to be near 80) or the guys will just drag on. Remember the chicago home game last year? That was brutal...
