I doubt that it's available at all through out the Bay Area through Comcast. Only reason why I said East Bay in particular is for the short time that Comcast offered Setanta, it was rolled out to the North Bay first, followed by the Pennisula, then the South and East Bay were the last to get it, from what I remember. Comcast just seems to love offering better channel lineups to certain areas even though they'll charge everyone the same. If I'm not mistaken doesn't Comcast in other parts of the country offer FSC HD? I'm willing to bet that I'm paying the same price on my bill though not getting the same channel offering as those people in those areas.
I think FSC HD and GOLTV HD are offered only in Philadelphia. I think they are the only city who has BBC America HD as well. It continues to boggle my mind why only certain areas of the country get certain channels through comcast while the rest of us are left waiting months or even up to a year before it's rolled out.
I have both DirecTV and my local TWC (basically I'm paying less and getting more by doing so) so I've had GolTV HD and FSC HD for a while on DirecTV. My local TWC (Binghamton, NY) has had FSC+ HD for a while now, 24/7 unlike DirecTV, as part of the sports pack which costs $4.99. Just yesterday they added GolTV HD and FSC HD to the lineup. Once I noticed this I promptly called DirecTV to cancel their Sports Pack. Now I get to save $10 a month. I'm surprised with how much more HD my local TWC has now than DirecTV.
i have a hard time calling fox soccer HD, HD, fox soccer is obviously compressing this somehow or doing something odd with the picture. I have watched it on directv and fios and they both look similar, there are bright artifacts that outline the players which look odd... BTW i have watched with different tv's and different sources. IMO espn 2 hd for EPL looks miles better, also goltv HD on directv looks miles better..
^^^Agreed. I have been watching on FiOS. The wide view seems much worse too. The closeup/field level cameras look pretty good, but when they go to the wide view it looks pixelated and blocky. FX didn't look much better yesterday.
There are 3 million FiOS subscribers in the United States. I swear to God, I think every one of them is on BigSoccer. I don't think I've ever even seen the name uttered outside of this board, but it's everywhere here. There's even a guy with "FIOS" in his username. What the heck?
you sure it's Fox doing the compressing? Something tells me FSC doesn't have the same weight that ESPN does when it comes to carriers' use of the spectrum
FIOS claims they don't do any extra compression. They claim they just pass through what they get. That being said, I think FSC HD looks pretty damn good when they are actually showing HD content. They do pretty well with indicating with the onscreen bug whether what they are broadcasting is HD or not. Many things like WPS for example are widescreen but not HD, and those events don't carry the HD bug, and those do suffer from what the guy above is describing, however when what they are broadcasting is actually HD it looks great on FIOS in Boston.
On Comcast in SF East Bay this year, when Champions League tuesday matches were on "Comcast Sports Net" produced by Fox the image was quite good, similar to ESPN. But two semifinals on were seriously compressed.
Alright, I have to agree now, the picture quality looks especially bad tonight on the debut of soccer night in America. The graphics look really bad, like they were made for standard definition and upscaled to hd. And the wide shots look artifacted and just plain terrible. Closeups look nice though.
Yeah... that's not it. I've got a really nice TV. There was definitely a picture quality issue with FSC for that event.
i agree with him completely I have a panny vt 65 professionally calibrated, and FSC picture can look awful sometimes(looked good for that man city crap last night)
If anyone wants to help the cause with AT&T U-Verse, click here. You don't need to subscribe...we're all in this together.
I think eventually all the major regions will have it. Its just something they can't push out to everyone at once.
I would love to know why, because I'm sure my bill is the same as yours yet I don't get the same channel lineup as you. COMCAST EPIC FAIL!!!
Who knows but i'm only guessing that its easier to push things out one area at a time Bandwidth wise. You probably have channels that i don't even have at my tier level. Hell back when comcast did the latest internet speed increase for the western Washington market i swear my area was the last one to get that speed increase 17 months later after they announced it. Washington state is getting FSC HD June first.
