    another laughable rumour

Mikel to Arsenal for 15 mil

I would really question the sanity of the tptb if this ever happened as we would be giving up one of most consistent players and an important cog in the team, selling him for nowhere near his value, and improving a direct rival in an area they are sorely lacking

Isnt Mikel your Makelele??...I have not watched much of him lately but i feel he's a mainstay in your starting 11 for the next few years and someone who's very much under appreciated for his efforts....

one would think, he seemed to be out of favor with Carlo a good part of the year though:confused::confused:

sublime yet under appreciated is Obi Mikel

They should be paying us the 30 mil!

Ridiculous valuations aside, Tevez would be a good addition to our team...

I'd hate this club if Drogba's forced out. For me, he's still the best center forward in the world by a mile today. No one even comes close to what he offers to the team.

Fabregas is a front bottom...but what's wrong with Tevez? Alway plays his heart out, shows genuine love for the game and has total respect and empathy with the fans.

One of the standout moments for me is when he played for West Ham, scored a vital goal in a thrilling game with the spuds, he subsequently jumped into the stands and started celebrating with the fans! Brilliant moment!

Too bad he got a yellow for it though!

You can't fault Tevez or his workrate on the pitch, would just have to throw him an Argentina theme party once a quarter, I'd take him, not at the expense of Drogs let alone and money though.

Now Fab is a great player, but still one I'd always rather beat than join, and not to start one of those again but I have concerns he is heading towards injury prone of late, and also seems not the type to suck it up and play hurt.

he is a douche. Like many of the current modern day players he seems to enjoy kicking opposing players but pretends that his daughter has been anally violated if he is fouled. I would present the CL Final as exhibit A in regards to some of his less than desirable behaviour.

with that being said- I would still very much like him in our squad.

Lukaku is a great player , but dont we want to begin to phase out the Drogba type player? AKA the battering ram Striker? I thought with the signing of Torres we would be looking for a suitable partner to go with him , and I am not sure that is Lukaku. Having said that , he is very young and will transform and develop as a player . Would love to see Sturridge given a chance as well . Some people comment on how he goes missing for big periods of the game , but he puts the ball in the back of the net . Abit like a Van Nistelrooy , who will do nothing all game , and pop up with a fantastic finish or just for being in the right spot at the right time. And that type of player is invaluable.

Considering how great Drogba's been, I'd never say no to another player of that type. Whether or not Lukaku could match him is another story, though.

Saying Drogba is a "battery ram" type striker does him a humongous disservice, at the moment not only is he our best central striker, but also our best left and right wing, set up striker and one of our best defenders, our best crosser, one of our best passers, one of our best free-kickers, and is ridiculously underrated on the ball, where he is one of our best, and yes I'll take plenty more of skilled, strong, fast big game scoring strikers that win 3 titles and FA Cups

Well he is only 17, so you'd very much be buying potential at this point. Drogba only made it into the first team at Le Mans when he was 21, it's a bit unfair to both of them to compare them with each other.

I've said this before on the Belgian national team thread but it might interest you as well: people forget that Lukaku is still a very raw player. He's a boy in a man's body. You can see it in a lot of things. The Belgian NT plays better with the far more limited Vossen - in terms of potential, not current ability - up front, just because he is further ahead in terms of his positioning and decision making. Considering Vossen is four years older, it shouldn't be that surprising.

Point is, don't expect him to fill Drogba's shoes. Heck, even Drogba himself couldn't do what Drogba does now when he was just 17.

The irony is that De Bruyne's (the one who would be bought by Chelsea but allowed to remain in Belgium for a few more years) skill set (great shot and pass with either foot) would lend itself far better for an immediate move to a better league.

It'd be great if we bought Lukaku and immediately loaned him out for 2-3 seasons. He isn't ready for the first team as Belgian guy very thoughtfully pointed out.

maybe get him in, let him spend a year with us, training with us, learning from drogs, THEN send him to finishing school on loan? i do think that its most important for him to spend time with drogs while drogs is still with us. i would even like to see drogs stay on in a coaching role eventually?

unless it is a forced contingency by the selling club I just can not agree with spending upwards of 20 mil on a player and then loaning him out

just does not make sense to me for that price.

assuming we lose Anelka and Kalou, there is room to see what he and hopefully Danny are about here this year, and as pointed out above learning tricks of the trade from Drogs and Torres everyday are irreplaceable and priceless, so more valuable than starting every match, for a year or two at that age, assuming he still gets some time on the pitch

I would hope that we would find time for him considering the price. Its another story if we are spending 5-6 on a promising youngster, but it looks like a large fee for this lad and I would rather he learn his trade with us or possibly spend one year with his parent club to facilitate the transfer.
