I agree with you about winning the game in the attacking third. But let's not forget that the last 3 goals that have been scored against us in the run of play have come from silly defensive breakdowns. So let's hope for good finishing and 90 minutes of solid defense...
Seriously. The last four goals we've given up are Bad News Bears. It can be Russell, Olave, Williams - whoever, just standing and watching and not following their guy's run into the box, they've been awful...and against Portland it could well have been two.
I think PJ's going to be out of training much longer than originally thought. That's too bad, because we need him. Sabo, Olave, Borchers and Williams were also out today. I think Sabo must have a -physical ailment going on...that would explain his play in the Portland game.
the cross given up that lead to the goal was pitiful, horrible marking. nobody was paying attention, portland took the set play quick and caught everyone with their thumbs up their asses. i hope jason ripped them a new asshole at half time for that one. the goal itself was a total fluke, ricocheted awkwardly off borchers and just happen to come off cooper and into the net. you get a goal against a team like chivas and they will give up 2 or 3 more. just need to smack that first one into the back of the net.
Sabo looked like he injured himself (I believe it was his left foot) on one of his shots in the Portland game. He kicked the defender's foot when attempting the shot, and then hopped and limped around for a bit. I wonder if this is the ailment that kept him out today. Collen Warner wasn't even watching the ball when they restarted that play. He was looking at the goal, and I wonder if he was looking to Rimando for instruction. Either way, you should always stand on the ball until the player asks for the 10, or the ref indicates to wait for the whistle. Big gaffe on Warner's part.
yup, warner was looking for instruction as a midfielder for setting the wall. portland played that very smartly, they recognized RSL's slow reaction, played a quick ball and caught the team off guard. mental mistake from RSL and it cost us, kudos to the timbers for recognizing that.
Robin has probably helped their backline somewhat. But let's not forget that their two wins were against the two worst teams in MLS (SJ and NE). So take their winning streak with a grain of salt. Still, with RSL struggling and Chivas coming in with some confidence, I don't expect an easy game by any means.
My brother and I have admired Chivas's passing lately. We've made it a tradition to say "Chivas!" whenever the other team passes the ball out of bounds or makes unforced errors. Let's hope that continues. Troy Perkins is unbeatable!
I watched Chivas last match on MDL yesterday and came to the conclusion, that ultimately NE just suck really bad. Chivas didn't really "outplay" them at all... it was more that they just outscored them in a game where there were about an equal amount of opportunities. New England's defense is dreadful, so I don't see RSL giving up a goal against the goats this Saturday. Hopefully the boys don't make me eat my words. I'm predicting 3-0 RSL
I honestly can say that I have no clue how RSL will be this weekend. Chivas is not the issue. RSL could beat them, and soundly, any day, but I don't know where RSL's heads are at, and it sounds like we're dealing with a lot of injuries and some sicknesses. Paulo will not be available. Kreis says he's pulling him completely until he heals completely. Sabo is still nursing his knee (I don't buy it) and is the new Findley, except not near as fast, and Espy hasn't gotten over last Wednesday. And our defense have NOT paid attention to the details the last two games. It's up to RSL to win or lose this, but I don't know where their heads are at. I think that this whole new chapter in RSL's life is a good thing, though. From here they can take it even further and be truly great. It is adversity and challenge that shows who is truly great; how quickly they can turn things around. I'm grateful for this opportunity, and I'll say it, NOW I'm glad they didn't win the CCL. This will give them the opportunity to become even stronger.
I might be slow to the party, as I haven't had the heart since last Wednesday to read RSL news a lot lately, but is canyonvue, traveller's new name?
OMG chivas BEAT SJ AND NE... Bottom Feeders and a team we beat with our reserves... I'm not concerned about this game at all... its not like in one week we magically became a worse team... form is fleeting class is forever... 2-0 RSL
Robin has his boys playing pretty good defense. The only offensive thing that I see them doing is bring Justin Braun's drunk mom to the game.
I'm not worried about Chivas. Not at all. Just worried about the fact that Sabo's still having knee issues, Espy needs a psych, Paulo is injured and won't play, Borchers is sick and Andy's dealing with family matters. But, if we can pull something out of all this, that's great.
I'm not worried about Robin's D or what he knows about RSL or the past or anything. But I am worried about THIS guy
I'll ignore your stupid comment. We're a better team for being in the CCL, and we'll be a better team for not getting what we want in it. It'll build character and strength and we'll only get better. I bet you anything we'll be back in the CCL again and we'll have knowledge to use next time. ---- I'm feeling optimistic about this game now. It's a new beginning, a fresh start, and I think they'll pull out something great. Portland was just a hangover game. Monterrey beat us twice last week. There's been enough time to start healing now.
Ok I will Bite - If you can honestly explain to me how this team is CURRENTLY better than the version that entered last Wednesday game right now because of the loss I am all ears. All I see is speculation about how they will be a better team because of it, yet they have shown absolutely no sign of it. The coach himself admitted, on the same radio broadcast you reference about Monterrey beating us twice, that the team was struggling. But that is the problem when you lose something you may never get a shot at again - it sticks with you. I hope like hell they can get over that loss but to sit there and say that they WILL be a better team with any sort of certainty because of losing, and "not getting what they wanted" is short sighted, and shows no sign of comprehension of the psychological make up of a professional athlete. Tiger Woods went through some crazy adversity, how is that working out for him 18 or so months later? Have the Jazz ever really bounced back from Jordan (despite the many incarnations of the team)? The list could go on and on. This team is not better off from losing that game. This Saturday is the first step in a very long process in my opinion.
Can you go ahead and ignore that Big Soccer exists as well? Please forget about it so we don't accidentally read any more of the crap you post. I commented on your prior statement because of its poor logic. If RSL would have won the CCL, they wouldn't be in a funk NOW, would they? They would likely have more confidence than ever. They also would have THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE, and be THE EXACT SAME TEAM, except, you know, they would have actually won the damn thing. Not that anything I write will change the way you think. So... carry on. Now where have I heard that before... Wait. You didn't, by any chance, happen to listen to this week's interview on ESPN 700 with JK? What a coincidence that you think and say the exact same things that were said in the interview.
This is the worst thing I've ever read on the internet. Yes, including MLS Rumors. Now that I think about it, this might be the first thing written on BS that has actually offended me, and I spend an inadvisable amount of time reading the rivalries forum.
The Jazz suck. They always have, they always will. My biggest fear is that RSL will become like the Jazz. The better the team the quicker they can bounce back. Great teams will use adversity as motivation, like losing to New York. We will see.
