question: does the whole of the ball need to be over the line, or just the bottom that touches the line?
I'll tell you what pisses me off... everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, will be banging on about this if we go on to win the game and then the league because of this. All those dodgy calls for yanited, pool and the rest will be completely forgotten because of one 'not over the line' incident.
Agreed. Luck. What are the odds that the ref calls a red or penalty against us in the 2nd to make up for this mistake?
The linesman was obviously guessing. Makes you think why you would risk being wrong if you don't know for sure.
your wording confuses me. is it the whole ball or the bottom cuz i super slow moed it and gomes momentum pushes the bottom of the ball over the line right before he takes it back.
Not a goal, obviously, but it's not a "terrible" call - it's a matter of inches. It is the wrong call, but that's not the same thing as a terrible call. And, I hate to say it, but Gomes takes all the blame on that one; if he saves it cleanly it's not an issue. Also, we completely deserve to be even and should be ahead - Spurs only attempt on goal was that shot from Sandro which went in off a deflection; they've offered almost nothing going forward. Ramires on for Essien please - Essien's inability to pass is downright maddening. I don't need amazing passes from him, but please, pass to players wearing the same color shirt as you! If someone made us an offer for Essien in the summer, I'd snap it up. He's simply not the same player if he has to rely on skill and guile, because he never had those in huge abundance anyway. All that said, watching Malouda up front.........I feel the last 3 years would have been completely different had we managed to get Robinho. Yes, he did flame out of Citeh, but in London with a Brazilian manager and Brazilians around him, it would have been different. Even under Hiddink and then Carlo. And how desperately we still need a wide tricky player. Here's hoping we do get Neymar - I feel he's exactly what we're missing in games like this - someone who's not content to put in standing crosses but rather looking to go past his man and shoot or pass. Malouda is not a bad player, and, unlike most on this forum, I'm happy to keep him as a rotation player (and he just said he wants to be our Giggs), but he's no longer player well enough to justify his place in the side on a regular basis.
If we grab a goal or two after the break might be an idea to get Ivan off coz he'll be looking to give him a second yellow.
