Supporters lot is just to the north west of the stadium and is a great place to have a pre match beer with your friends:) Drive safe!!

Anybody with word on Paulo?? will he be on the bench?? I really think he will be key if available.

I will give re-birth to the Sabo vs Yura thread if he (Sabo) does not get his shit together for this match.:D

especially if sabo keeps blasting them right at the keeper. he needs to finish some of these point blank shots.

i've been playing the new mortal kombat non-stop trying to burn through this week. this game is just as addicting as the first one was. i thought there were only 100 levels in the challenge tower, just got to level 100 and realized i still a few more to go....like 200 more to go. ridiculous, 300 freaking levels in this beast.

The stores around town other than the team store do not really have that great of a selection and much range in sizes. Team store is your best bet.

@RSLTribune Just FYI ... RSL is 7-0-3 without midfielder Kyle Beckerman the last two years. None of the draws higher-scoring than 1-1.

    ---

Of course, they weren't playing Monterrey.

Depends, I'll probably wear it anyway. Too bad they won't let me bring in my claymore.

    Claymore as in sword?
That'd help keep the Monterrey fans at bay if they start a riot.

    Just thinking about this...

Has there ever been a more important club match played on U.S. soil? Obviously international matches during the World Cup, and some may argue the Gold Cup, were bigger matches, but I would submit that this match may be, outside the World Cup (and many qualifiers), one of the most important matches the U.S. has seen on it's soil.

    What do you guys think?

bluntly, no there has not. not ever in the history of club soccer in the united states has there been a match this big. and yes im taking into account both the DC United CONCACAF Cup and their Interamerica Cup as well as the Galaxy CONCACAF Cup wins. i fully recognize DC and LA won the regional championship at the time and that cannot be taken away from them. but to say what they did is even remotely close to what RSL has done in CCL would be an absolute mockery. RSL already has twice as many wins as both those teams had during their runs to those cups. not to mention the fact that both those teams won those cups in their home stadiums over the course of a weekend.

people always bring up the interamerica cup for DC as well saying that is greater than what RSL has done. ummm, how? they played a two leg competition against Vasco, both games in the united states and won 2-1 after vasco beat DC at RFK stadium in the first leg and then basically flew around the world before the second leg.

its too bad the galaxy didnt get to play in the Club World Cup after winning in 2000, but it is what it is. wednesday's match is the biggest club match ever played in the country with the most on the line and if RSL wins it than it will be the biggest thing a MLS team has ever accomplished in the history of the league.

    A bit off topic:
    Holy Hail Storm!
Let's hope that doesn't happen on game night.

I sure hope that's not why we're called Real. Is that why Kansas City has the Royals?

@wyo - go to the team store

they haven't passed out season ticket passes either, so you can "bend the truth" and say you are one. If they ask, say you sit in section 26 and sing. They'll buy it.

I've noticed some hype about Salt Lake altitude being a factor in this game, but I think we can rule that out for the most part. Already in 2011, Monterrey has played seven matches at altitudes higher (usually much higher) than SLC. Their record is not that great, but neither is their overall record. Here are their results at high altitude this year:

    1/30: 2-3 loss; 7,217 feet
    2/23: 1-0 win; 8,793 feet
    2/26: 0-1 loss; 5,138 feet
    3/11: 1-0 win; 6,194 feet
    4/3: 1-1 draw; 8,793 feet
    4/6: 1-1 draw; 7,217 feet
    4/13: 0-3 loss; 7,217 feet

I also expected to find out that half their team was from the high altitudes of D.F. anyhow, but it turns out most of their team are Monterrey natives. I think that's pretty cool, personally. But that's beside the point. Point is: I don't think Rayados will be sucking wind like Costa Ricans. Well, they might be because of the tough string of matches they're in the middle of, but not because of the altitude.

It will be a factor. Just like the heat was always going to be a factor for RSL despite them trying to dismiss it. Unless your lungs are used to the air at that elevation it will affect you. It's physiology - there's no way to trick it or mimick it. And if players on the team were from Mexico City that would be meaningless. It's not something you are born with - it's a matter of how much pressure is in your lungs, and how used to that pressure they are.

Every team (with the exception of Colorado) in MLS complains about this factor after leaving here after receiving a whooping. With Monterrey, it won't be nearly as dramatic as it would be with teams at around sea-level, but it will still be an issue.

It's actually your blood, not your lungs, that needs to make the adjustment to altitude. The haemoglobin in red blood cells binds to the oxygen in your lungs and sends it throughout your body. Where there is less oxygen in the air at higher altitude, your body adjusts by producing more haemoglobin. If you are at high altitude pretty often (like the Monterrey guys have been) then you probably have a pretty high level of haemoglobin. It's not like it immediately goes away when you drop in altitude again. The red blood cells, which are packed with haemoglobin, live for about 120 days. So no, it's not about air pressure in your lungs.
