Oregon State - http://osubeavers.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/030404aaa.html All five Pac 10 soccer schools have now reported their classes. Granted, their are only five schools but not other conference can claim that right now. This jumped out at me from the Tulsa and UConn announemnts: (Lawson)Vaughn, a 5'10" midfielder, transferred to Tulsa prior to the 2004 spring semester from the University of South Carolina, where he started 33 of 34 games in two seasons for the Gamecocks. During the 2003 campaign, he registered one goal and two assists for four points. He tallied one assist during his freshman season. During his prep career at Lassiter (Ga.) High School, Vaughn was a two-time all-district performer and was twice named the county player of the year in 2001 and 2002. And... A transfer from South Carolina, Geoffrey Anatole will provide support at the goalkeeper position. A native of Sharon, Mass., Anatole saw limited playing time at USC in 2002 and enrolled at UConn in the spring of 2004. He began his high school career at Sharon High (1998-2000) but graduated from Beaver Country Day (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) in 2002. Anatole was a member of the USA Region I Olympic Development Team and also played for the South Shore United Blazer Soccer Club. He earned All-New England honors in 2001 and 2002 and helped guide his team to the Region I Championship in 1999. Anatole was a three-year member of the Massachusetts Cup and was voted the Most Valuable player each year. The Gamecocks program has been very unstable the last few years and it appears that trend is continuing. I know Anatole was beaten out by Brad Guzan so I understand him moving, but it's still part of a sad and disturbing trend for USC.
Lost recruits Does anyone with Ohio connections know what happened to Kozlowski and Reisinger? They played on the same club team and according to Top Drawer had "committed" to Indiana. However, they were absent from the official announcement.Top Drawer got the remaining three out of five correct, but a kid from California who was not listed by them signed for a total class of four.Just wondering if they went as a package elsewhere.
Re: Lost recruits They're apparently looking to redshirt. Similar situation as that of Ft. Wayne's Kyle Schwartz last season.

These two schools have made their second recruiting announcement this year: Rutgers adds three more - http://www.scarletknights.com/soccer-men/news/gamepr.asp?prID=1459 And WVU adds two - http://www.msnsportsnet.com/page.cfm?sport=msoccer&story=6060 Among the schools we're waiting to make their first annoucement are: Akron, Alabama-Birmingham, Boston College, Bradley, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Farleigh Dickinson, Florida International, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Portland, Saint Louis, San Diego, San Jose State, Seton Hall, South Carolina, St. John's, UC Santa Barbara, Virginia, VCU, Wake Forest.
Re: Ohio State, I came here with the link, but see SM already has it up. In addition to the real prize, two-time All American and two-time Ohio POTY Xavier Balc (don't miss this kid if you get the chance) the only surprise is Casey Lachem, the two-time All American GK out of Perrysburg. He was a very late signing, as he considered his options. While he's a terrific Keeper, quick, active and athletic, he's on the small side and didn't want to go someplace and just sit. Apparently it took some sales effort from Bluem to convince him he has a shot in Div I. I agree.
I can't believe that I beat PVan to this... UAB - http://uabsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/030804aaa.html
I don't have much time at work to surf the net as I'm a PE teacher and I'm coaching two soccer teams right now. I'm just glad to see that it didn't take until the middle of the summer before they announced their class. Chase Tidmore, one of the players TopDrawer had them signing didn't get signed.

anybody have info on these UCONN recruits? Geoffrey Anatole (Sharon, Mass.), Ryan Cordeiro (Highland Mills, N.Y.), David Fromayan (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Julius James (St. James, Trinidad and Tobago), Caesar Lopez (Orlando, Fla.). I am pretty familiar with Schilling having coached against him and refereed one of his games this year and seen him play a few times. These other players I have no info on. thanks for any help

Furman University I saw the link for Furman. Does anyone out there have any idea how this class is and compared to the ones Coach Allison brought in from recent years. I didn't know any names so maybe that is my answer. Thanks for the help.

And, one of their recruits is named Myles Davis. I guess we can call this recruiting class the Birth of the Cool! And Wake's class sounds loaded, with four youth national teamers and an attacking center mid from Miami. Among the schools we're still waiting to make their first annoucement are: Akron, Boston College, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Farleigh Dickinson, Florida International, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Saint Louis, San Diego, Seton Hall, South Carolina, St. John's, Virginia. UVa is usually very prompt about announcing their recruits so it's pretty odd that they haven't put anything on their website in months.

Sandon do you know where Phil Long is going next year? (if you've already posted it somewhere back, sorry but I missed it).
http://wakeforestsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/040104aaa.html "It's an exciting class," said 11th year head coach Jay Vidovich, "because it fills our program's immediate needs with individuals who can lift us to greater success. They are strong players with strong personalities. They have been very successful everywhere they've been and they will develop into great leaders as time passes. This is a cornerstone class which will enable our program to continue to reach new heights." Two of the incoming freshmen, Marcus Rein and Julian Valentin, will be on the U-17 National Team that is scheduled to play Wake Forest in an exhibition on April 23 at Spry Stadium. Cooper Bryant Midfielder * 6-2 * 170 * Niedernhausen-Oberseelbach, Germany Background: Bryant is an American-based player originally from Florida. He currently plays for the club team, Mainz-Gonsenheim, in Germany. He attended adidas ESP in 2003 and was a member of the USYSA Region I '85 ODP team. Bryant was named to the adidas 85 All-Star Team in Chula Vista, Calif. He played with Florida State Champions with Brandon FC Flames. Bryant is a previous member of the Florida and European-based ODP teams and captain of the Europe '85 ODP team. Bryant was a member of the 2002 Belgium National U17 Division II Championship while playing for RAEC Mons. Head Coach Jay Vidovich on Bryant: "Cooper is a solid midfield player who brings a physical presence. He offers versatility with his ability to play in the back. He's a well-rounded player with international experience who fits into our passing game while fulfilling his defensive responsibilities." Alimer Gonzalez Forward * 5-7 * 140 * Miami, Fla. * Belen Jesuit Background: Gonzalez is a member of the Region III ODP team and the Miami 86 ODP team. He was named to the adidas Youth All-America team and was a member of the adidas ESP program. Gonzalez plays his club soccer for Plantation Premier, the 2002 State Cup Champions. He was named Belen Jesuit's MVP and first team All Miami-Dade County. Vidovich on Gonzalez: "Alimer brings a South American-style creativity to the table. He has an attacking flair, a great left foot and is the offensive punch in this year's recruiting class." Patrick Phelan Defender * 6-0 * 175 * Enfield, Conn. * Wilbraham & Monson Academy Background: Phelan is a past member of the U.S. U-18 and U-20 National Teams. Earlier this month, Phelan was named the 2003 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year. He was also the 2003 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. Phelan is a three-time adidas Youth All-American, a two-time NSCAA High School All-American and a 2002 Parade All-American. While representing the United States on the U-18 National Team, Phelan was named the most valuable player of a tournament in Palence, France. He is a two-time ESP camp participant and the 2002 Golden Boot Award Winner. Phelan played his club soccer for the Oakwood Soccer Club where he won two state championships and was a regional finalist. Vidovich on Phelan: "Pat will make an immediate contribution to our program. He has the capability to be the top impact freshman in the nation. Pat is a player who gets his job done with little fanfare. He has a great soccer mind, his distribution is clean and there's no question that he will make an impact right away." Marcus Rein Goalkeeper * 6-0 * 185 * Modesto, Calif. * Edison (Fla.) Academic Center Background: Rein has been a member of the U.S. National Team's residency program in Bradenton, Fla., where he trains with one of the nation's best goalkeeper coaches, Peter Mellor. He is a past member of the U.S. U-17 and current member of the U-18 National Team. Rein was named most valuable goalkeeper while representing the United States in the Val de Marne Tournament in France. Rein played his club soccer with Ajax United in California. He has been recognized as an adidas Youth All-American. Rein will be a member of the United States U-17 team that will play an exhibition match against Wake Forest at Spry Stadium on April 23. Vidovich on Rein: "Marcus has shown the early potential to become a great goalkeeper for us at Wake Forest. He is strong, reads the game well, make big saves and has international experience. Losing a goalkeeper like Will Hesmer but replacing him an individual like Marcus Rein is a great luxury." Julian Valentin Defender * 5-11 * 180 * Lancaster, Pa. * Edison (Fla.) Academic Center Background: Valentin is currently a member of the U.S. U-18 and U-20 National Teams and the captain of the U.S. Residency program in Bradenton, Fla. He is a two-time adidas Youth All-American. He was a member of the U.S. U-17 national team that participated in the 2003 World Championships in Finland. He is a former standout on his FC Leeds United club team and captain of his Region I team. Valentin will be a member of the United States U-17 team that will play an exhibition match against Wake Forest at Spry Stadium on April 23. Vidovich on Valentin: "Julian is not only a great soccer player, but a great individual. He's a leader, he is charismatic and he's a warrior. We expect big things out of Julian. He is a physical player, a vocal leader. He was a co-captain of the youth national team with (D.C. United star) Freddy Adu and was praised by his national team coaches. They believe he will be an important part of the future of American soccer. We know he'll be an important part of the future of Wake Forest soccer, as well."
In response to where Phil Long is transferring to, I just talked to Phil two days ago and he said he has no idea where he wants to transfer but has a couple of schools in mind. He did say he plans to redshirt next year in order to have an extra year of eligibility. He actually might be coming to a pitch near you Courtney.
SM: I know that you've already posted Ohio State's announcement so I won't re-link. However, they just made a late addition to the class. He is: Ben Oliver, a native of Chula Vista, Calif. (Hilltop High School),... becomes the seventh member, and the first defender, of the incoming freshman class that will wear scarlet and gray this season. Oliver joins Xavier Balc (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), David Bauer (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield), Eric Edwards (Loveland, Ohio/Milford), Ryan Kustos (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), Casey Latchem (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Kyle Retzlaff (Brookfield, Wisc./Brookfield East), who signed National Letters of Intent in February to join the Buckeyes.
UAB adds two more http://uabsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/041204aaa.html Dejan Jakovich(Woodbridge Strikers/Toronto) & Majell Aterado(Santa Rose CC) anybody have any insight into these two signees?
