So its a weekday.. any tailgate?? or just a few beers in lot 8?? I am wondering because I have bregged to a co worker on how awesome it is and I am bringing him Thurusday. Now to the actual game part.. I saw the NJRB this weekend play San Jose.. they look really good.. good ball movement.. good midfield. I hope Benny shores up the midfield to limit what NJ will throw at us.. TFC is a totally different thing than NJ. I would love to see Macarthy palying again but he needs a partner to team up with to be creative and hold the ball going forward.. He plays like a traditional #10.. and he does have the skill to do so but I hope that Benny pairs him up with a player that will compliment him going forward.. Simms is good but he is a destroyer.. we need him but not in tandem with Macarthy going forward.. perhaps Fred?? I assume we will play a 442 I am happy with our back four. Who whould we pair with Simms for the mid field contention?? destroyer roles?? Brascovich? Simms Macarthy Fred? Up top?? Lets go with Davies? and Pontius (I would also love to see Wolf ) I feel good about Thurs.. as long as we keep it tight.. we can get out 3 points.. But I think NJ will have alot of the ball.. we r going to need to use speed.. davies.. so its davies over Wolf.. thoughts??
As long as we don't play like we did against Colorado. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we only had 3 defenders in the back against Colorado since our lineup was a little depleted and we got exposed. We did look sharp against Toronto in the front, so keeping Davies/Wolff up front and Dax/Fred/Simms/Pontius in the middle would be nice. For the back, I would throw Perry Kitchen into the fire and start him against NY...our starters in back did fine against Toronto Saturday, but, as you mentioned, NYRB is gonna be a bit tougher.
Finally, our first match of the year (about damn time). See you all Thursday. Any happenings pre-game, or is it fend for yourself?
I have not heard anything about the status of HK, though I know some of us who are usually working in it won't be there early. The best advice to EVERYONE is to bring food to share tomorrow. But this is true for all tailgates, whether there's an HK set up or not.
As Ed said, the general rule is there is less food at a weeknight tailgate because people can't get there as early or cook it at home and bring it. But there is always a tailgate and any weeknight food contributions are gratefully received. I'm going full tilt and besides some beer bringing an UNOPENED can of Pringles.
I personally find Cardhu's a bit strong for a child under 5. Too mediciney on the front of the tongue, and too sharp a finish. For really young children I recommend a Balvenie Golden Cask. A smooth, carmel-nosed 17 year old aged in rum casks, it goes great in your favorite whiskey glass or sippy cup. Oh, and I can't believe I can't be there, but I'm out of town, so be loud and crazy, and kick some metro ass... then have some scotch. DM
