nah bro, then we would be another NT by doing so. You can't ever do that to a jersey. Most NT jerseys have ALWAYS stayed the same (as far as format goes). Same color shirt, shorts, and the only thing that changes a lot is the socks. But the top ain't changin EVER. The shorts can change every once in a while too. For example Ecuador has used not only red socks, but white ones as well. And we have not only used Blue shorts, but white ones as well. But what's the traditional look? yellow top, blue shorts, red socks. I like white socks too, it's just a matter of taste when it comes to the socks and it doesn't really bother me whether they are red or white.

I was born and grew up in the US, and I admit everyone here is all about trendiness. In futbol, you will never hear an Emelec fan (for example) saying that Barcelona's new jersey is sick. But in american football and basketball for example, fans of one team will compliment the jersey of an opponent. That's a violation in futbol IMO. There's just somethings you don't do. And in this case it's changing our jersey to red, purple, black, or any other ridiculous color that looks "cool or trendy".

Brazil changed from white top to la verde amarela after the Maracanazo but other than that I don't know of a case where the National team changed colors.

Is it me or has Ecuador never worn the white alternate jersey for the yellow jersey with a blue sleeve from the 2006 world cup?cI've never seen them wear it, it would be nice to see more often a colour for la seleccion's jersey like white, or even all red like Colombia did in the early 1990s with their addidas jerseys. Maybe even the all blue jerseys like the away jersey we have, although I've noticed Ecuador has suffered bad results in that Blue away jersey in qualifying and has been thrashed 5-0 against Brazil wearing that kit.

Spain and Mexico went with all black uniforms, even though their flags don't have that color.

Didn't one of our teams play with a yellow shirt and white shorts once? And then change to blue shorts at half time? LOL.. it looked awful.

not just once, we've done it a handful of times. Even the U-20 team did it in the Sudamericano vs. Chile (the game where we qualified) and i think maybe even against Brazil.

White shorts looks awful on us. But as someone mentioned earlier, we did have a White alternate jersey which i actually did like and it was for the 02 Qualifiers and the 2006 World Cup. And we have used them both in friendlies. But Other than a white jersey or blue jersey, we CANNOT pull off another color. It'd just be ridiculous. White is an color that most NT can use as a 2nd or even 3rd alternate jersey.

Ecuador has played with a yellow jersey and white shorts in the 2010 qualifiers as well. I believe it was against Paraguay in Asuncion back in November 2007, also against Chile in Santiago in October 2009. I personally think that white shorts look pretty decent as well. I also wouldn't mind an all red jersey wit blue shorts that would look pretty nice, just like colombia had in the days of Valderrama and Italia 1990, we need something different forget the same crap all the time with the different variations of the yellows jersey with tricolor apendages on it. Mexico has gone out recently and changed ther always traditional evergreen colors on their jerseys to a black jersey, which isnt even relevant to their flag's color. Also look at Germany, they have changed their all red away jersey and home white jersey traditions to a black jersey as well. It's about time that Ecuador did something new too!! Oh, lets not forget Paraguay's white away jersey, which back in 2006 qualifying and a few qualification tournaments before were a dark blue away jersey; they never wore white jerseys. It's about time Ecuador brought a new era of players wit a new era of jerseys as well.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p785FtqUCvI"]YouTube - Seleccion Colombia Antony de Avila gol contra Ecuador[/ame] I was thinking of a an all red jersey like that but minus the tricolor appendages and the yellow socks. What does everyone think?

I agree 100% It's about time Ecuador brought a new era of players wit a new era of jerseys as well. I'm not a big Fan of the current Kit we have or the previous one. Mixing some new colors is not a bad idea at all or even mixing different shades of yellows, blues and reds to darker tones, less of that fluorescent yellow that is used now to more warmer tones.

Also the over all design of the jersey itself needs some love too, that 2 stripe color design on the side for the previous jersey and the 2 stripe color from top to bottom is played out, keep it a simple and clean design. In my opinion, I would even go with a new company entirely to make our new Kits, make it totally new and fresh and revamp our brand. I think Adidas did a excellent job with the new Colombia jersey. just saying

I don't really give a damn what the jersey looks like as long as they are playing good. Oh Yeah and the people wanting an adidas or Nike jersey should be ashamed of themselves. The thing I like the most about Ecuador jerseys is that the company is actually from Ecuador. I think it says a lot about us as a country.

ASHAMED!?!?!?!? For what thinking outside the box. When did Marathon become the Holy of the Hollies

First of all, nobody should be ashamed to express an idea or thought. This is a forum where we have a chance to discuss and share ideas popular or not. Its called a Democracy.

2nd of all, with your logic, Fans from La Liga de Quito should be ashamed too, their jerseys are made by UMBRO. Also Deportivo Quito is made by Diadora, El Nacional by Lotto and the list could go on and on. Also the cleats the players wear are probably Adidas , Puma or Nike. The ball is probably adidas too. Thats a lot of shame going around, PLEASE!!!

I think Marathon has done a fine job with our National Jersey. They would've probably made a new design if we had made it to the World Cup. I do wonder tho if we had Adidas or Nike for example making our jerseys.. Would that give us the opportunity to face better opposition in the international friendlies? Kinda like Colombia lately facing Spain due to them both being Adidas or Brazil/France ( same deal with nike)_..

When we play with white shorts and white socks is because of the rules about uniforms. Teams can't have the same color jersey/shorts/socks.

Hence why when we play Chile depending on who's home, the away team plays with white shorts.

We look like tools, but those are the rules.

the away kit should be a neutral color with some subtle forms.I think that a coal/grey with yellow borders would look really cool.a dark grey,so the emelecistas dont think its their colors .:p I seen new balance sneaker with that combo and they look really modern. Its time to update our kit.

An interesting point was brought up with the Adidas/Nike endorsements....could it possibly allow us to penetrate a larger market and share profits with the jersey makers? I guess all that could help us 1) hire a better coach, 2) possibly pay for better friendlies, 3) upgrade the stadium?

But I do like the Marathon jerseys for their unique style, and they usually are sharp looking kits. I'll be waiting for the new jersey!

That's a good question, as I'm sure teams get some decent $$ for allowing Nike, Adidas, etc. to put their logo on the shirts and make a share of the jersey sales.

However, I doubt Adidas/Nike would pay that much more for the rights than Marathon does, and they certainly won't do a better job of identifying the pockets of Ecuadorian immigrants in Spain and the US so they can target jersey sales. All in all, it's probably a good deal for both the FEF and Marathon, and the jerseys themselves are nice-looking and good quality, so I don't see any changes in the near future...unless Ecuador becomes an international powerhouse and regularly advances deep in every tournament - but that is still a few years away ;)

I hope that list is just a guess cause it's terrible. Selection chiQuito. So many players that are left out are much better than most of these guys. If this is the line up we aren't winning any game in Copa America.
