Friends don't let friends count away goals as double. Or something like that.

RSL's roster is valued at $9M. Monterrey's is valued at $61M.

2-2 result next week and it then goes to the classic extra time rules, correct?

And people give wiki a hard time..sounds accurate to me. Now if they would post a little article on the Mega lotto and update it as quickly.

EXCEPT.... If those away goals are scored in extra time.

So if the 90 ends 2-2, extra time. If the 120 ends 3-3. PKs.

Figured I'd throw that out there.

Away Goals effectively 'turn off' if it's 2-2 after 90 minutes next week. Both teams could score another goal in the extra 30 minutes, and it would go to PKs instead of being Monterrey on away goals.

It's one of the wacky little concacaf differences.

This little difference actually gives the team that hosts the second leg a significant advantage, and thus I'm not sure why CONCACAF does it this way.

Seems dubious to me. The away goals in ET offsets the fact that the other team is hosting it.

With CONCACAF's situation, the advantage is purely to the team who was drawn as home in the 2nd leg.

Two away goals are clutch! Way to go Morales, way to go RSL! Finish them off at Rio Tinto!

Exactly. Most people think that away goals exists to encourage more attacking play from the away side, but what it really does is balance out the advantage of hosting the second game.

The last time RSL lost at home was on May 16, 2009, when they lost 2-0 to the Kansas City Wizards. They've gone unbeaten in 34 straight since.

The last time RSL gave up 3 goals at home was on October 6, 2007, when they lost 3-2 to Chivas USA. That was 57 games ago.

Either way, history will be made Wednesday night.

(watch, Monterrey wins on penalties and nullifies my statement)

naw, they havent won 34 straight, they just havent LOST in 34 straight games. although they do have a pretty incredible record (wins vs ties).

Well, 0-0 or 1-1 is just as good as a win, and 2-2 gives you 30 minutes of away goal free extra time and perhaps penalties. (sorry to harp on that).

I worry a bit about losing Beckerman, but going home with the score tied and two away goals in their pocket is huge. That really was a great (and enjoyable) game that RSL played.
