actually, the more they showed it the more it looked like it came off his thigh and not his hand imho.

initially it looked like a clear handball but after watching 4 replays i wasn't so sure.

probably a couple times over. RSL's roster is probably valued (at high praise) around 10 million (saborio, the DP, was bought for $700,000). thats the wonderful thing about this roster, it goes 18 deep. 1 player does not make a team and with a deep roster like RSL's it can do things like hopefully win the CCL.

Doesn't Monterrey have to score 2 away goals to even have a shot at winning?

Looking at this post, next to your avatar, and all I could think was some strange K-On reenactment of Spartans in a soccer tournament.

I need to get out more.

No, a 1-0 win would put them through. (3-2 on aggregate)

The fact is they HAVE to score a goal or they are out regardless.

How does that make sense? I thought the away goals rule applied?

Away goals is used as a tiebreaker if the teams have the same number of aggregate goals. If Monterrey wins by any score, they have the most aggregate goals and win regardless of the away goals tally.

It does...but aggregate is the deciding factor. Go look it up.

2-2 in Monterrey and 1-0 Monterrey winning next week would mean Monterrey winning 3-2 on aggregate. See?

It does. It's the tie breaker. 0-0 or 1-1 and RSL win.

Away goals rule only applies if the score is tied on aggregate after both legs.

Away goal rule applies only when teams are tied in aggregate.

With a 1-0 win @RSL, Monterrey would have a 3-2 aggregate lead, therefore they would advance.

Away goals only give advantage in the result of a draw. Aggregate goals still rule all...as they should.

Yes, but contrary to what commentators say, they don't count double.
Away goals are the first tiebreaker. So if there is an aggregate tie, the first tiebreaker is away goals. Therefore, the 2 away goals are a nice little cushion for RSL in case they can't win at home.

Chitownfire's confusion is precisely the reason why the "away goals count double" comments are so harmful.
