Then he needs to be taken out back and euthanized. He hasn't ever signed a player better than Feilhaber and he isn't going to start now.
Who else is refreshing this thread every 30 seconds while watching the C's ? We want Benny ! We want Benny !
this. You guys really need to take him here. theres nothing houston has be it cash, players, draft picks, etc that can equate to the skill that benny brings now.
I am doing the exact same thing, and refreshing twitter. Just want this to be over one way or another.
Houston has a bunch of big lunk fowards that duplicate what we already have, some athletic guys in midfield, and Brad Davis serving in balls. Adding Davis, a third left footer in midfield, would be ridiculous. Not to mention he's old, but we seem to like that. If Cameron is off the table, and I assume he is, then there's no one. Ching is out injured all the time. Colin Clark has been out for most of two years and may never be the same player he was. Danny Cruz is a hustling player, but please--we need possession. Oh wait--Calen Carr!
LOL Houston fans think their club can play "hardball" with us. That is funny. They are trying to trade up and they think their team can play "hardball"? Now that is a new one.
The only player I can think is in play is Cruz at say 1/2 the salary and no signing fee. Can't think what else Houston would dangle given our needs?
LOL...they are under the assumption you guys are lukewarm on Feilhaber (some Burns v. Nicol tweet) and that you will more than likely pass. I think it's a no brainer you guys take him. Just hoping you don't and/or we can put a little something on the table to entice you.
Sign him up, but what is Benny's long term plan? Does he want to stay in MLS for the rest of his career? He must have aspirations of going back overseas to fulfill his true potential which he hasn't really done at Derby or in Scandinavia. How long can the Revs realistically hope to hang on to him?
"But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me."
There is not one player on Houston i would take over Feilhaber. He is a possession mid who is very versatile, which is the type of player Nicol loves and the type of player we desperately need. He was on the WC squad this past summer and has name recognition to the average soccer fan. Did i also mention hes ONLY 26!!! C'mon Revs this isn't that hard.
MLS contracts are a minimum of 3 years. If Feilhaber wants to go back to Europe, he needs to play really well for both MLS and the US Mens team, and he either has to command a huge transfer free or wait until his contract is up. Losing him after 3-4 years because he has an offer to go back to Europe could only mean one thing.....HE PLAYED GREAT FOR US !
I agree, but I would guess if you do the move, Nicol has a target in mind. So the question is: A) Target in Nicol's mind + Cruz + Sarkodie + #3 allocation (Say Beasley or Eddie Johnson) v. B) Feilhaber
The Revs have to pull the trigger on this. They have the unique opportunity not only to get a very good young player who fills a huge need on the team, but also someone who is well known to soccer fans in the area and someone who will energize the fans. They will not get another opportunity like this for awhile. gotta take it.
A Feilhaber in the hand is worth a Beasley in the bush. This isn't going to get resolved tonight, that's for sure.
You clearly don't know this club. We don't make moves because we have a "target in mind." We make moves because we hope something falls into our lap. Then sometimes when it does (like this one) you never know what they are going to do. Why do you think we are MLS Cup-less.
Have Philly officially passed yet, or are we just assuming they will based on previous comments? If not, then I worry Houston could leapfrog us.
