Sorry if this is already posted somewhere else. I looked for a thread and didnt find one (mods feel free to move or delete if needed). I am in the planning phase of booking my trip out to Portland (for The Crew's trip west May 21st) and Im looking for some help. Info and suggestions primarily. Im pretty stoked to come hang out in Portland for a few days so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
There's some info in this thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1641689 Other possible sources of info/contact: SCUSA: http://www.soccercityusa.com/cgi-bin/yabb25/YaBB.pl Timbers Army: http://timbersarmy.org/ I believe the TA site eventually will have an away supporter guide to Portland; I don't know about BS. In the mean time, there probably will be a lot of cross-posting. Maybe a mod could sticky this thread for general (not match-specific) questions? For now, what questions do you have?
We are compiling all the contributions for the www.timbersarmy.org page for visiting fans. We have set up 3-4 hotel recommendations, including 107ist rates for those coming into town.
We launched the part of our page for visiting supporters. A lot more will be added as time goes on but we wanted to get what we had available quickly. http://timbersarmy.org/portland-guide
Thanks for the info guys, I hope there is a decent sized group of Columbus fans who come out to the game. Its a long way to travel but Im sure it'll be worth it thanks in large part to the beauty of your great city. I have been in contact with the Timbers ticket reps about tickets. I guess as it stands the biggest question I have for everyone is what is a good bar to go to downtown? I look forward to the trip, cant wait to visit and maybe even meet up with a few of you before the game
Come on over to the Bitter End or any of the many bars around the stadium. Lots and lots around here. $2 pitchers at the dive bar (Tony's Tavern) that go to before matches.
I'm gonna try to make it to the Dallas game on June 25. Do you know the section that the Timber's army will be sitting? Edit: By sitting I mean standing lol
101-108 and 201-208. If you come, please please please stand and sing (got a feeling we'll be having hundreds of tourists taking up room in the TA this year). If not, then take the guy's advice above and go sit in the visitor's section.
I plan to stand and sing! You can call me a tourist if you want but I'm a recent Timber's fan! I can't wait. How close to game day do you think the TA will announce where they will sit? Thank you BTW
That's a little unfair. Most of the people who sat in 201-208 sat last year and in the prior years too. My take on the situation is that the people up there were more into the game than the folks in the library, but still wanted to be able to sit most of the game. I suspect that 105-108 will be standing in the same numbers as last year (because it'll mostly be the same people).
That's what I thought. I am not making the trip and don't know how many people are coming from PDX to that. I know we have some people in the Midwest though that will probably go. I'll post when I hear more about what section we will be in ect.
Very true. I didn't mean to come off as a jerk, just tired of people standing in the section and taking Myspace pics instead of watching the game haha
I'll be there for the Galaxy match as an away supporter!!! As a Galaxy fan now living in Seattle, i would say go timbers in every match except this one Seattle fans are such little bitches about LA that i just grew to hate that team, flounders are shit! side note, why aren't u guys wearing white socks with ur home jerseys? I think they looked so damn cool! cheers on ur home opener!
Just booked a room at the Radisson as they have a free shuttle to and from the airport. My friend and I fly in Wednesday morning and fly back to LA on Thursday morning. Any points of interest we should check out before the game Wednesday night? Any great pubs or restaurants?
Too many recommendations for one post. Check out the link above as a start and I'll think on my personal favorites.
I promise to be a little more constructive, but first you have to give us a clue about your interest., Or I could default to pubs. I have experience there. Tell me your beer style preference.
