With Henry getting benched(errrr injured), what do you guys think of pushing DeRo up to play with Aguedelo?

That would mean Ballshity would be coming into the midfield.

Ideally I'd rather see Hertzog come on for Henry and see what he can do starting the game, since he's looked good more lively than Rogers in his cameos so far. Really I'd like to avoid Ballouchy playing, let alone starting, at all costs.

I don't want to weaken the midfield. That's where the game is won and lost.

It will likely be Rogers. I don't think Backe will trust 2 teenagers to lead the attack. I'm personally not opposed to it as I think we need a shakeup.

I just think of Hertzog's run at Columbus's defense when he came on, our attack could use that kind of spark to compliment the passing game.

I would not mind it and think it would be good but I would do anything to avoid ballshitty.

On that we call all agree on. I have a feeling Backe thinks like this though:

    Options in Henry's absence:
    1. Rodgers
    2. Ballshitty
    3. Hertzog

Are you suggesting Balshitty is #1 choice by Hanster?

I think that's the exact order Backe is thinking right now.

Ives said that Backe actually likes Ballshity, so I would place him above Rogers.

Its just so evident now that the Red Bulls have no depth to cope with any injuries other then in defense.

I think there is depth in midfield too. The problem at striker is not a lack of depth, but a lack of true starting options if this is "How He Will Be".

I think thats safe to say at this moment as Rodgers is not fit and the other is a rookie with no pro experience. "Balshitty" is inconsistent but on a good day he can absolutely make a difference, when he first arrived Hans did say he was surprised at what he was able to do.

Kinda scary especially with the Gold Cup coming in June.

    Nope.

    http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/socce...chilles_injury_chronic_RSzD413kRInp1mIlVxdGFO

Luke Rodgers is an option to start up front next to Agudelo if Henry can’t play, although Backe admits he could use newly-acquired midfielder Dwayne De Rosario as a support striker...

...when asked if he could say it won’t hamper the French star all year, the coach couldn’t promise that.

“Thierry’s had this problem for around seven years. It’s a chronic problem with both Achilles tendons. Arsenal, Barcelona, and he’s had it since he’s been here as well,’’ said Red Bulls performance analyst James Murphy. “He’s just been managing them from time to time. You get an acute flare-up, and that’s what he has at the moment; but it’s nothing to be worried about.

Murphy said the injury can flare up from training and playing on different pitches, but downplayed it. He concurred with Backe that surgery won’t be needed, but took a far more optimistic stance than the veteran coach did that the injury shouldn’t keep Henry out long-term.

Well you think wrong, what Backe will do is start Rodger with Henry next game...

And answering the question of the title of this thread: Yes that is Is How He Will Be, he is a 34 years old man and that is the way will be with any 34 years old player....

WTF are you talking about? I quoted this:

"Luke Rodgers is an option to start up front next to Agudelo if Henry can’t play, although Backe admits he could use newly-acquired midfielder Dwayne De Rosario as a support striker..."

I could be misremembering this, but didn't Rodgers already go 90 in the Columbus game? For Backe, it's probably either start Rodgers, or move DeRo up front, and move Ballouchy in the midfield. As lame as it would be to have Ballouchy back, I'm actually interested to see how DeRo-Agudelo looks different from Henry-Agudelo.

Rodgers went about 75, Hertzog came on for the last 15-20 minutes and looked better than Rodgers had all game. Agreed to the De Rosario - Agudelo partnership, would be an interesting change up.

It really only takes one goal for him to get out of a slump.

This season he probably should of scored 2 or 3 goals already, and of he would of scored those, we would be talking about what great addition he is.

Enough criticizing the guy now, lets see how he will play vs San Jose, and then we will start agian :)

Henry will play and his partner will be Rodger not Agudelo, mark my words, Backe want to demostrate that Henry isn't the problem.....

The article suggests that IF Henry is INJURED Rogers will play with Agudelo. What about that are you not understanding?

Metz, your words are so marked up by now no one understands them. You keep making these things up like you have some demons in your head. You had these voices in your head that Garber had said that a team could sign an unlimited amount of home grown players, that all home grown players were on GA contracts giving teams the right to sign home grown players to whatever salary was needed to sign them because someone else (aka Generation Adidas) was writing the check (???), that Kassel was a GA with so much self assuredness and now somehow you are reading despite Backe's comments in writing that Backe is seeking to submarine the Red Bulls to prove that Agudelo and not Henry is the source of the scoring problem.

What world are you on? Where in the world are you getting this impression? Has Backe for once even criticized Agudelo's play?

That being said, I am so hoping that Henry can start to resemble anything close to what I was expecting of him.

Guys, I have to support Metz on this as he has been right before.

Last year, everyone was ripping on him when he was stating that the Red Bulls didn't think that much of Angel and should (or would) get rid of him. Months later, we found out that Angel was almost dealt to Seattle for Ljundberg.

Today's article article by Dyer on mlsnet gives the following tidbit: “It’s very even between the guys" the head coach said in regards to the comparison between Rodgers and Agudelo:

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/rbny-notebook-bouna-back-rodgers-and-henry

If it were not for the direct quote attributed to Backe, I would have said that he's simply trying to develop some chemistry between Rodgers and Henry in cases when he goes in for Agudelo. If Backe actually has Agudelo starting on the bench Saturday, he is out of his mind.

Starting positions should be based on merit and merit alone, and in game Agudelo is obviously a step above Rodgers.
