How much do you guys expect the new owner to be spending on new players? I mean i haven't heard much about whether he has set aside a certain amount of money. Just curious.

Well, DDR said that he heard a comment on radio about how every single partner of Di Benedeto could buy Roma on his own. So, that means they have a lot of money. As for, how much are they willing to invest the first summer, I think it really depends on whether we finish 4th or not. But, DiB did promise us 5-6 new players.

I'd be shocked if we really got that many. If it does happen, I bet it'll be two big name people and 3-4 middling to nobodies.

Sorry for the negativity. I just don't want to be disappointed.

Don't blame you. I think we will bring in around 5-6 new names, but it will also come with at least 3-4 players leaving as well (we already know Mexes will be one of them). I don't see DiB and co., spending a wadd of cash to buy 5-6 new players straight up.

a Danish center defense would be nice if you bring in Agger too. Interesting. He has an italian restaurant in liverpool so I don't think he'd mind the culture:cool:

Agger is a walking injury-about-to-happen though. At least in the PL, perhaps Italy will a little less rough on his tender physique.

Kjær can only do better at Roma than at Wolfsburg, he has really sucked there. He is being overtaken in the Danish national team as well, really dont know about him.

No offense but there's no way Kjær is a "dream"

A dream CB would be Vidic, Pique, Chiellini etc.

In other news, latest rumors say 30m + Gago for DDR.. I wouldn't accept it but what do you think Dibennedeto will say?

My realistic dream. literally, in my dreams aka fifamode Id choose Kjaer and Bovo together.

I like the first two but no way chiellini!!

    I feel like 10-15 years ago defenders were more abundant. nowadays everyone is a "wingback" rather than an outside back; CB's are expected to score man than they were. IDK but football has changed to more of a portugese/spanish style all around;

You don't find too many Gattuso's anymore unfortunately which is hard when trying to find a Mexes replacement:(

Ernesto Bronzetti: "De Rossi is not interested in Real Madrid, but Gago could go to Roma."

Interesting. I like Gago and I think his arrival would finally allow De Rossi to play as a box-to-box midfielder.

I hate the idea of DDR leaving, am not even going to achknoweldge it till he's in some other teams colours. Bronzetti's comments fill me with some hope :)

Gago? Surely Mascherano would be a better option, no? Am not a fan of either but I think Mascherano has more quality

For me the package Gago is a better package than Mascherano.

    - Gago is by far more technically gifted than Mascherano.
    - Gago wil be cheaper in terms of transfer fee and wages.
    - Gago is younger by two years.

Mascherano is a great defensive midfielder, but his play is very one-dimensional whereas Gago offers you more.

That's not at all what he said, I don't know where you pulled that quote from but it's certainly not a quote.

He said Real Madrid is not interested in De Rossi.

I stand corrected. "De Rossi does not interest Real Madrid", literal translation.

Nevertheless, it brings us to the very same point; Real Madrid will not sign De Rossi.

Bronzetti goes on to say: "Gago? He was put for sale last season and a sale to Roma could materialize. But not in change of De Rossi, also because I talked with Perez some days ago related to this situation and he stated that the football player doesnt interest him. In addition, Real are well covered in that position with the Xabi Alonso and Diarra."

After getting burned by Real Madrid rejects in the past I'm a little wary. Gago does have something to prove though so maybe he'd be hungry and he's certainly better than Brighi, (I know they don't play the exact same position).

That link also said he would only cost 11m which I think is way off the mark.

I would love Song but Wenger isnt letting him leave for less than 20m.

did it say 11? Yeah that seems unreasonable... 20 is about right. Get rid of Brighi then for a couple mill

Agree with you, but Mascherano is more healty than Gago. Gago has suffered too many injuries in his carrier, he has spend too much time of the seasson injured during last 2 seassons.

I'm afraid that Gago has regressed quiet a bit in last few years and would be a definite gamble from our side. Mascherano on the other hand is not that much worse technically than Gago. He has adequate skills on the ball and short passing range.
