She's improved recently, but when I wrote, LeBlanc, Jönsson, and McLeod were all playing better than she was. LeBlanc is currently a shoe-in for WPS Goalkeeper of the Year.
i'm not a hope solo fan...i don't like her attitude , i'm not saying she is a bad person but she act like she is a superstar and i hate it....but i have to say than she is a great goalkeeper may be not the best in the WPS ....karina le blanc is the best for me....but she is in the top three for sure.
Hope Solo is the best Goalkeeper ever men or female! and just because of the controversial person she is she's might the best thing that ever could happen to the WPS or to womensoccer women soccer need players like her players where you look up to players to speak about SOLO rocks!
Old thread but I do agree. GAA is one thing. Have you watched Solo's kicking, positioning, command of the back line, and reaction time over her career? She is so good its scary. I dread playing Saint Louis just because of Solo. She has been the difference between winning and losing so many times be it on the WNT or in the WPS. I would have to say she is the total package skill wise and not hard on the eyes either.
That's a mighty big statement. Although I agree with you she is the best womens goalkeeper in the world. The best male or female ever? I don't know about that. There have been some great goalkeepers in the world on the men side over the years in different countries around the world. Lev Yashin of Russia, Gordon Banks of England, Dino Zoff of Italy, Sepp Maier of Germany all come to mind of world's greatest goalkeepers of all time on the men's side. Now as far as comparing to American keepers men or women, still a maybe. Kasey Keller did a great job for the USA.
