Seriously, why can't we be up for it like this against freaking West Ham?

What a half that was. More solid than spectacular, for the most part, and the rain is slowing down play, but we've looked strong at both ends. Cool, level-headed goal by Kuyt and two joyful goals by Carroll. Now, must finish the job.

    Loved watching Carroll's bomb.

And nice to see Kuyt put in a nice accurate shot across the box.

A lot of things went wrong in that West Brom game.

As opposed to City, who are a Dzeko and Hyde team.

Another corner falls to Spearing, who mishits the volley. But they're playing like they want more.

Suggestions that we need AVB should be put to rest. Kenny was the original AVB. ;)

Great performance. Its nights like these that will sell the club to prospective players.

    Keep it up.

83': down by 3, City bring on de Jong for Balotelli. Makes sense to me. :)

88': Carroll a bit high with a header off a cross from Suarez (which was itself a bit high).

Really a sorry display from City.

Awesome. Let's hope we can keep it up and at least push for that 5th spot even though we most likely won't get it.

Wow, we absolutely slaughtered City. 3-0 really flattered them considering how often we ripped them apart in midfield and shredded their defence.

Great debut by Flanagan, looked a class act, great composure, great technique and confidence. 18 years old and a local lad. Very impressive. Plus with Spearing in the side that is a young side - Carroll and Lucas and Suarez are also pretty young too.

Everyone played brilliantly today apart from NGog, who only played for 1 minute. I was very impressed with Aurelio in the first half.

Carroll off the mark today with his brace. Suarez deserved a goal today as he was in the thick of all our attacks.

Man City convincingly beat us earlier this season (under Roy) but this time around we tore them apart. Credit to the City fans who were excellent too.

how many of us would have taken 6th at the beginning of the year? I know I would have....

solid display from the boys. nobody put a foot wrong and we completely nullified their threats, and actually won the possession battle on the day.

Flanagan...18 yrs old, making your debut against a top 3...have to love it.

Spearing...tackled and tracked all game, even knocking Toure around a couple times. Proving he is worthy of a squad place next season.

Carroll...two well taken goals will do the boy wonders for his confidence. (according to Thommo, his old pal Jose Enrique is headed our way in the summer)

Still won't get European football though.....

I know it could be a blessing in disguise but a slump for Liverpool should be playing in the Europa League, not missing out on Europe entirely.

Also find it ridiculous that the CC winner will be in Europe.

Strange team, aren't we. ? Or do we only play like that against teams who's name begins with M-a-n. After the last M-a-n match I thought we were always going to play like that..!

Good team match all around and excellent play from the kids. Spearing after a finishing goal and Flanigan getting tricky with the ball.

Citeh came out with this game already tucked away and setting themselves up for a Wembley match. This will destroy any confidence they may have had.

I'll take the 3 and hope we get 3 in each of our remaining fixtures, then wonder why we didn't get the points when playing the minnows.

Funny old game this Football innitt....???

What an an absolute beaut of a game.

Feel sorry for Johnson but he's going to be stuck on the left next year
as both Kelly and Flanagan look great on the right. After Kuyt he was my man of the match today.

As usual we only miss Agger against teams who are happy to sit back against us. Carra and Skrtel both had good games, although largely untested as Lucas and Spearing stopped any real attacks coming through.

Lucas: 53 successful passes 10 not Spearing: 55 successful 12 not.

Happy for Carroll as i was begining to worry that Shefti Kuqi would score before both him and Torres. I can now enjoy watching Torres misfire now that the big man is off the mark.

Kuyt had his best game of the season, YES EVEN BETTER THAN THE UNITED GAME, looked great on the wing and supporting the forwards as well aqs helping Flanagan the few times he needed it.

Lets now wrap Aurelio up in cotton wool so we have the same balance next week.

We were always going to lose big games like this one.

I don't understand why all you people keep complaining...

How do you expect us to score any goals after selling torres?

Game highlights the importance of Wide backs. Wide backs, and not converted centre backs. Lets never go back to Carra/Wilson wide ever again.

    So True.

Both Carra and Wilson can do a job when we are away to top tier teams providing that there is at least one proper fullback on the pitch but last week was overkill.

With 3 good options at RB, Carra no longer needs to be back-up for that position which in turn leaves The Greek as surplus to requirements.

Which stinks, as I'd like to rewatch, but at least I could see the game on my computer at work.
