This is one of the reasons why Bourdain is just as much of a sell out as any chef he blasts on his show (Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri..etc.). I used to lie that guy until I saw that disclaimer. What an utter hypocrite!
They don't seem to be masters any means at least nothing like the first two seasons. As a matter of fact, they looked like rookies. someone needs to tell Hugh to shave that unibrow.
Why do people insist on displaying their stupidity on their Internet? Why can't they keep it to themselves?
You are the idiot if you are gullible enough to believe that the producers of the show and Bravo executives are not involved in the judging decisions. Furthermore, Part of Bourdain's shtick is railing against the idea of a celebrity chef yet he embraces his fame and promotes himself as a celebrity chef. He is most certainly full of it.
OK, looks like we're all tied up at 1-1. Let's please call it draw. (No need for the Jovan Kirovski school of post-match hijinks here.)
You're assuming things that aren't written. I think it's healthy to take anything that happens on a reality show, or pretty much anything on television, with a grain of salt. I don't think you're a complete idiot. It is idiotic to have any sort of reaction to a standard reality show disclaimer or to use the words "sell out" as a pejorative without any irony.
Bourdain doesn't promote himself as a celebrity chef but as a critic and it's his criticism that made him famous. Not his cooking abilities.
And he's the first to admit that he's become what he started out railing against. Not to mention that Top Chef isn't exactly the center of AB's world - he was a guest judge on what? Maybe half of the episodes in season 8? In other seasons he was completely absent. I think judging on Top Chef isn't manipulated by the producers but I do believe that producers are at fault for all of the stupid challenges that didn't actually test anyone's cooking skills - especially in the Bahamas episodes when it should have been all about the cooking. And is there a reality show in the history of ever that doesn't have disclaimers? The lawyers need something to do, after all.
I once saw a car commercial that said "Professional driver on a closed course". Surely that means Hyundai cars are incapable of making left turns.
