Wow, the day before and no tailgate thread! Anyway, just wanted to mention that we will absolutely need help in HK tomorrow. If you've ever taken advantage of the food the kitchen volunteers produce, now would be a good time to step forward and help out. Thanks!
The Richmond contingent will be there in full force around 3pm, barring heavy traffic issues, more than normal is what I mean. We'll throw some dudes your way. Also looking forward to seeing everyone, it's been too long!
Thanks man. Cool -- it's been a long time, and it'll be good to see you. And anyone from RVA that can help, it'd be appreciated.
indeed. I gott admit it was my first time helping out in HK and it was fun. I was also glad the RVA contingent got there early and were able to help out. Great turnout
It was also great to see you Big Rob, as well as Bootsy, Grill Master, Marshall, Owen and the rest of the crazies!
So this was my first experience with the Barra Brava and I had some problems. I heard from DC united and from you guys when I picked up my ticket that the section I was in (233) was general admission. This was a concern because I bought my ticket seperately from my girlfriend and her little brother. We found a seat that would work next to the isle so her little brother could stand on a chair and see fine. First a couple comes to our seats and tries to tell us that its their seats, I told them its General Admission and they gave up with sour faces. Then 15 minutes into the game ANOTHER lady comes and tries to tell me that it isnt general admission and that they specificially reserved the whole row for their group. She was giving me grief and we decided to move to around the seats on our tickets were to avoid any more confrontation. Basicially we could never get to a place where everyone could see because now the section was full. We ended up moving to the upper bowl and missing most of the first half. So I guess my questions are -Is the lower section general admission and do I have the right to refuse to move to anyone? (but of course season ticket holders) -Can you only get into the section through the Barra, if these people got the tix from you wouldnt they know its general admission or are they lying to me? She didnt even look like she belonged. I know this isnt any your fault i'm just confused and want to know exactly how it goes own so I can stand my ground next time. Thanks!
If you bought your ticket directly from La Barra Brava then it's general admission without a doubt. DC United doesn't sell supporters groups tickets so I'm confused as to where u got them. That whole lower level (100's-300's) aren't GA, just ones designated to Barra Brav and Screaming Eagles. Where exactly did you first sit?
I'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who helped out in Hell's Kitchen this past Saturday: from the regulars to new folks like Big Rob and large numbers of the RVA crew. Your help was absolutely needed, was crucial to our getting stuff done in time, and was very, very appreciated. Thank you all so so much. I'd also like to remind those of you who haven't helped out in the past that we sure could use your help. We were pretty well taken care of for the prep and cooking parts of the kitchen work; but we were short on folks to help break down and clean up; and some of us volunteers got in much later than we'd hoped as a result. Please volunteer and help. Thanks again.
This is not really true. We have had BB season tickets in the 200 sections and those sections fill up with with college students, Seattle fans and other douchebags who clearly did not buy their tickets from the BB and expect to sit in exactly the seat that is printed on their ticket. I speculate (because I just don't know) that DCU gives Oscar as many tickets as he figures are needed and then they sell the rest themselves. Just because a number of 200 level sections are "BB sections," that does not mean that everyone in their is BB or got their tickets from BB (apparently). Next game is college night - check it out and you'll see what I mean. If you go to the seating map on the DCU website you will see that the 200 level seats are not designated as supporters group seats. So for Mr. Aconti, this probably does not help you at all...
Yes thanks for the quick reply I appreciate the support! I guess i'll answer you and everyone here. I did order my tickets from the Barra and waited in line in lot 8 like everyone else at which point I asked if the seats were general admission. However the people trying to get me out of my seat did infact not seem like they bought the tickets from the barra, not to generalize but It was just the vibe I got. I feel like they would be informed and not be so nasty with such lines as "If it was general admission wouldnt it say so on the ticket?", in a very nasty tone I may add. I figured there are seats and rows because everyone buys a "virtual" ticket in the section. Ones the section is sold out, as in everyone bought a seat from that section then its sold out but you still get to stand wherever you want.
one thing to keep in mind, there are many barra members who wear a credential in our sections, any of these people can help you with issues like this and if they cannot they can get me or oscar and we will resolve the issue.
I am curious about the answer to this. Is Funkfoot right in that the Barra sells some and DC United sells some and so it's unclear as to the GA status of the 200 sections?
My understanding is that the standing-only, general-admission policy actually only applies in the 100s; the 200s are a different story. Of course, I haven't made it to a game yet this season, so I'm hardly the expert.
Also there are some "legacy" season ticket holders who have had tickets since before BB took over the section and still get their tickets through DCU. This is probably not who was giving you a hard time, though.
