    decent going forward

    very poor at the back

depends on how Carlo appoaches it

have to think to set us up a little simliar and keep things tight as if Utd score early- its over

perhaps keep the scoreline intact while patiently looking for an opening and then really giving it a go over the final 20

Yeah, I was referring to the offensive end of the pitch. He had a poor match defensively, as did Evra...

    Man Utd fan in peace.

Close game, I think we just edged it, but you guys were unlucky with the post and penalty decision. Still all to play for at OT for both teams (the only one of the QF infact). Laters

Difference is that Evra at least uses his brain when he's attacking and has a good cross on him. Bosingwa is all instinct and running.

Chelsea had 54% of the possesion 70% of the attempts that were on target and 60% of those off target... United didn't deserve a damn thing.

I don't think it's over if they score first. The away team has such an advantage with the away goals rule I think the danger for MU is always there. MU have scored the only away goal they will in this tie; a drawn aggregate of anything other than 1-1 and they're out. The pressure for both sides is intense and it's the only QF that's really still in doubt. Should be fun.

Pete, but how many of those chances did we really threaten? Maybe a draw would have been a fair result, but the one clear chance they had, Rooney buried it. All the difference.

except that they took their chances and we didnt

football isnt a game of statistics pete with the exception of one- goals

we probably did enough to get a draw, but not enough to prevent Utd. from getting a vital away goal

As a fellow advocate of stats, it doesn't mean a damn thing when we can't create a clear cut chance to save our lives. Chances that are on a platter like the one Rooney scored from. Besides Utd always play a counterattacking game against us and as such normally have lower possession stats. They only ever needed 1 goal and to sit and hit us on the break. We never looked like breaking them down.

I think because on the Ferdinand foul both players had their boot in the air. Rio just made contact. With Zhirkov, the United player was trying to play the high ball with his head. Rio probably should have gotten a yellow too though.

think it sets up very well for Utd

they break fast and a very, very good on the counter

with the lack of tactical discipline from some of players (Bos, Essien) there should be plenty of space for Utd to launch counters into

I fully expect Nani to start the next fixture on the left against Bos

    agreed with yas and okocha

stats dont mean a damn thing

football is a results oriented business as Mr. Ancelotti will learn at the end of this season

Christ on a cracker, stats mean a great deal... we had 3, maybe 4 clear-cut chances. My point about putting out those figures is to combat the media narrative that Utd deserved the win.

they put the ball in the back of the net...we didn't. That is the name of the game afterall, isn't it?

I guess I'm a little more positive. I really have no fear of any of their players.

Me neither. As far as I know, this is still very doable. 1-2 at Old Tafford for Chelsea....

though we were excellent in the beginning and unlucky not to score. Other than that both ess and lamps were awful today, gave away so much possession

oh well, lets see what happens at OT.

and big ups to all you Utd. fans for being the coolest bunch of rival supporters.

Exactly. They're not invincible...far from it. They have a lot of good qualities but Chelsea can do this. Behind a goal is far from ideal, but we have 90 minutes or more coming with the away goals rule in our sail.

I certianly hope so. Just would have prefered to go into the Utd fixture with honours even.

Perhaps we can pinch it but based on actual visible evidence- it doesnt seem so.

I have spent the last hour going over the game in my mind... We hit the post, had the follow up cleared off the line, forced one absolutely mega save and one pretty good save from VDS, should have had definitely one and imo two penalties.

They had one really good chance and scored.

    That's football.
