VDS 9 - In top form today.
Rafael 7 - Unlucky to get injured, hope he's not out for too long.
Ferdinand 8 - Makes a huge difference. Doesn't like Torres very much. :D
Vidic 7 - Defended well in the air but gave the ball up cheaply a couple times.
Evra 6 - I was torn between giving him a 4 for his lapses in concentration and overall sluggishness but he (along with VDS) is the reason we have a 1-0 lead right now.
Valencia 8.5 - Flawless at right back. His discipline is awe inspiring.
Carrick 8 - Good game today.
Giggs 7 - Good work on the goal.
Park 6 - Looked a bit sluggish when up against Bosingwa but he made some good tackles.
Rooney 8 - Well taken goal, took responsibility for the team.
Chicharito 7 - Is always going to struggle in such a physical game but gave his all. Great block tackle on Drogba.

    Nani - N/A
    Berbatov - N/A
    Smalling - N/A

Yea, otherwise it would have been a 3. he was simply terrible.

He got beat for deep crosses, he went in on reckless challenges and got knocked on his butt several times leaving teamates exposed, he should have conceded a PK...etc, etc., etc.

I thought he netralized Drogba pretty good and had the key save .
He certainly had some lapses in concentration , but 4 is too harsh IMO .

    Valencia - 7.5 - very solid, disciplined
    Carrick - 8 - excellent
    Giggs - 7

I was spitting blood at his abject performance. Evra needs to get a ********ing grip.

can this be a perfect example of why we could use Coentrao on the squad?

I usually give him the benifit of the doubt on his poor attacking performance of the past 2 years because he usually puts in a decent shift defensively, but this has to rank up with one of the worst defensive performances I have seen from him.

It was so poor that I was thinkinmg Fergie may need to bring in another LB this summer... and that was before the PK that wasn't called.

    Rio....9
    Valencia....8
    Rooney....8.5

    That is all...

Rio gets a +0.5 for that reaction on Torres :D

The man personifies what it means to be a top class all around CB...I'm a big Smalling fan boy as Cr7torossi will confirm ;)...but he's still got a ways to go, and a lot to learn to completely replace Rio for us (if he ever can).

    Rio is our leader....

Vidic is our captain, he's just not our leader. Same as Gazza. He was our captain, but not our leader.

I would rather use a lot more of Fabio (if he can ever stay fit) and bring in the extra CM for that money.

I don't think there would be any question Rio would be our Captain if he wasn't hurt so much.

Our Captain is our leader. Whether Rio has the armband or not, he is our captain. He has been since the day Keano left.

I can definately see Fabio beating out Evra next season based on his recent play and if he continues to progress.

I'd love to know what Carrick did to deserve such high marks. I thought he was our best player in the first half, but he faded in the 2nd and when Chelsea turned the screws he was poor. I'd have given him a 7.

    This. Without a doubt.

Valencia's ability to play the wing and / or play right-back was brilliant. I like him so much. Ferdinand as well. He makes sucha huge difference for us when he's fit.

I was pleased with Carrick tonight as well; very decent game, exceptional ball for Giggs, who's touch and poise was equally as class.

Words can't sum up my feelings about tonigts result. :)

We won a "big" European game Johno, of course his marks are going to be high. If that penner had been called on Evra, you know Carrick would have got a 3, right?

    ;)
