Wow, maybe there's something in the Michigan water. Both he and Josh Gatt were not only signed by Molde FK, but both seem to extremely confident in their playing abilities, and in their ability to move up the depth chart quickly.

Now if Molde could just sign Soony Saad..that would be something indeed.

"Stiff competition" was actually a title of a late-70s (or was it the early 80's?) film.

I'l let you guess the genre.

A documentary on the competition in the cutthroat business of laundry-starching? Or the similarly rough and tumble world of mortuary services?

Yes, the Swedish player Emil Johansson. He is regarded as one of the better left backs in the norwegian league.

Sean Cunningham just started his first match for Molde FK. He was very good today for his first start. He is taller than I expected. He is strong and fierce.

    Molde 1 Sogndal 0

Sean came on as a substitute in the 46th minute. I am thinking an injury allowed him to get on.

Most say that I am a bit surprised he is getting minutes. I thought he was more of a project but I was wrong,

Cunningham was solid again today. He was the first one off the bench. He is doing well for his first premier match.

This is still preseason. The league doesn't start until March 20th.

No, he is a few players away from the starting eleven. Maybe we will see him play when suspensions and injuries take their toll on the first team.

Is there a reserve or second team for him to get some PT?

    Thanks for all the info!

Re: Sean Cunningham signs with Molde FK (Norway)

Yes they play in the 3rd division and IIRC can't be promoted because they have to stay 2 leagues below the first team.

I heard there was a recent rule change for 3rd division clubs, something about non EU players? Are there now limits on non EU players in the 3rd division? If there are would that effect Cunningham playing for the reserves?

The transfer windows for the Scandinavian countries are as follows:
    1.1 - 31.3 and 1.6 - 31.7 for Sweden
    1.1 - 31.3 and 1.08 - 31.8 for Norway.
Denmark follows the other European leagues.

Oh, dates are in dd.mm format :)

Re: Sean Cunningham signs with Molde FK (Norway)

If a player is not under contract, he can be signed at any time. He cannot play until he is registered with the club, which can only happen during the transfer period. At least that's my understanding.

Re: Sean Cunningham signs with Molde FK (Norway)

There are loan exceptions in the UK but I have no idea how this works in Scandinavia.

PS. I believe Denmark winter window is also Jan, 1 - March, 31 (longer in the winter than in the summer, since they have a long winter break and a short summer break in SAS)
