So far the hotel deal we have lined up would be hard to turn down. We are finalizing the details now but should be less than 70.00 with taxes for either a king or two doubles. The big question would be what time we leave. Its a 10 hour drive with stops and we gain an hour going that way. We will also have the opportunity to watch the reserves play Sunday morning before we leave.
So we have a couple things to get signed but this looks how its going down. Hotel: 67.00 includes tax and good for either 2 doubles or a king. Bus 1: Wifi available including food and beer (like Chicago) 90.00 Bus 2: Same features but has to be through a different company 100.00 Tickets: FREE Robb guaranteed us last night all tickets will be provided We would be leaving at 5am getting in Denver in time to watch CL game, check into hotel and head to DSGP. Sunday morning we would watch the reserves game at DSGP then depart from there to come home. We would arrive around 12am. We should have a reservation page up shortly, Lets go for 400 this time.
Beth and I are working out the kidstitter situation but it sounds like we might be in for this one. Been too long since we've been on a roadtrip.
Just wondering how people feel about staying in Denver for the reserve game -- if there are enough of us to skip it wondering if maybe a bus would simply be able to leave earlier. Getting back to Cabella's at midnight and still having to get home will make for a long Monday at work.
OK so if I'm reading that right you are going to drive straight to the pub and wait until after to check into your hotel. So: They have already told you it's 10 hours with breaks. You are leaving Cabelas at 0500C/0400M. You have little city driving time, as Cabelas is on I-70, so you have that working for you. 10 hours added to 0400 MDT; that comes to 1400 MDT, or 2:00. Problem is, the game kicks off at 12:45 in Denver--you may get there in time for the second half. If everyone's cool with that, great, but you should all be made aware of it.
Is anyone other than me considering flying to Denver for the game? Non-stop RT with all taxes on Frontier is $156. Yeah, I'll need to get myself from the airport to the game, but a 1:45 flight seems better for me than a 10 hour bus ride. I'll split a rental car if anyone is interested...
A couple thoughts: Like abracadabra said, leaving at 5 AM with a 10 hour trip won't get us there until 2 PM Denver time. We'd miss the first half of the CL and would have to go directly to the Dick from the CL and couldn't check in to the hotel until after the game. How 'bout: leave Cabela's at 2 AM. Yeah, it sucks. But then we get to sleep most of the way. Get to Denver around 11 AM Denver time. Check into the hotel, leave for CL around 12:15 or so (depending on where we end up going to watch it) Leave CL 3:15ish, head over to the Dick for tailgate Watch SKC Crap on the Crapids Back to hotel for additional drinking/sleeping/hot motel sex Watch Reserve game, leave after, watch Jackass movies and South Park on bus OR leave at 3 AM, get to CL game noonish, eat lunch, watch game, head to hotel to check in after the CL/before the tailgate. Another thought: since there looks to be a price differential in the buses (and I'm assuming no difference in quality) why not just split the difference, charge everyone $95 and then no wrangling over who has to get on which bus. If there's a difference in quality, that's another matter.
Big ups to Jeff and Sean (Sean and Jeff?)... They literally have never asked for an ounce of credit, but they have done a crazy amount this winter to create a hype. I find myself wanting to go on these trips, and that is weird for me. Keep it up guys!
The timing on the CL match is my fault. I overthought it and based it on the African swallow. The second bus does have DirecTV, whereas the first does not. Both have wi-fi. The first one just flat costs less. With any luck, we can book them both full quickly and let people sort it out. Also, assuming we can get both, the one without TV could leave earlier...perhaps at midnight for the bus-sleepers, and the other at 5am or so for the non-sleepers.
As I am who would be a sleeper, I like this idea. Maybe on the sign-up link there can be a box for sleeper/non-sleeper.
There is a really big sports bar right next to the hotel, BTW. Hotel reservation link will be up soon, same for bus. In the meantime, go ahead and fill out your match ticket form at https://www.sportingkc.com/form/colorado-road-trip-tickets
I'm 50/50 for this. I wanna be on the bus that leaves in the morning. I don't care about the CL game. I care more about a normal sleep pattern.
Sam - one form per person or can I fill out one form and indicate the actual number of tickets (2) in the notes box?
In a nutshell. Waiting on spousal approval. Don't really give two hoots about the Champions League right now, not enough to loose sleep over anyway.
me either. And I've almost convinced my wife to do this trip, not sure that's going to be a good idea though....
