For me, Gerrard would swap with Raul – I think Stevie is much better than Raul on the outside. But I think those are the right players to make the 4-4-2 work, if we choose to do it.

Well Raul isn't on the outside left -- its GJ with Raul tucked in. SG never really plays wide even if he's assigned there -- whether for Engerland or us

Ok, that's fair. Not a bad line-up though, if we can get a LB and wide left player (therefore replacing Carra/Skrtel and Raul) over the summer, I think that's a solid first 11, the personnel are capable of playing the 4-4-2.

I don't see Gerrard starting, to risky taking in mind the City game the week after. I think we will play with:

    Reina
    Carra Skrtel Agger Johnson
    Lucas Spearing
    Meireles
    Kuyt Carroll Suarez

Yea, Kuyt and Suarez in roaming roles on each flank is a fantastic idea, they're both such great versatile players in fine form now.

Anyone see Kuyt's brace against Hungary from Tuesday?

    This was the Bobber's question

So I wasn't answering about this match specifically but how we might play in a 4-4-2 like formation with our best midfield 4 and our two new strikers. See?

Uh, it was a cross. Right after scoring the goal he holds his hands up to Van Nistelroy and shakes his head while grinning. Beautiful goal, but very accidental.

    I see.....

It just hurts to see what a shitty left hand side we have. There is no natural width there. We need to spend there if we are going to have a good, balanced side.

    A Left Back/Midfielder are a must.

Any news on what's happening in regards to Sylvain and Liverpool?

    Marveaux. Not Wiltord.

No new news of late, but media has said they were talking (if not having something done).

I think his agent might want to see if he can play again this season (it could up his demands/value) before committing to a deal. I would expect you would see a deal signed in a month or so.

The "Liverpool Way" is back, remember??
So it's only natural that we won't know anything untill the summer.....:D

That is why......if we do see quotes or players/agents talking about liverpool, they must be all fake.

The early injury bulletin seemed to imply an Achilles problem for Johnson, set-backs for both Kelly and Aurelio, and a slight concern over Gerrad; otherwise everybody was fit. If so, I expect Wilson to start at left-back, Carragher at right-back and Skrtel and Agger in the centre of defence with Gerrard on the bench. So here is my guess.

    ------------------------Reina--------------------------------------
    ---Carragher---------------Skrtel----------------Agger-----Wilson---
    ---------------Lucas------------Spearing-------------------------
    ------Meireles-----------Kuijt----------------------Suarez
    ---------------------Carroll----------------------------

Subs: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Gerrrad, Rodriguez, Cole, Flanagan, N'gog.

Oh, and I notice that Hodgson is claiming credit for scouting Carroll and Suarez

What has always been wrong with him; blame everybody else for failures and claim credit for successes.

Note that Dalglish has had to defend us against the inevitable slur where everyone else is at fault ...

Here is the team: Gerrard not even on the bench. Too early and no need for panic selections.

    -------------------------Reina-----------------------
    --------Carragher------Skrtel----- Agger-----Johnson------
    -----------------------Spearing-------Lucas------------
    -----------Meireles------------Kuyt----------Suarez
    ------------------Carroll-------------------

Subs: Gulacsi, Cole, Kyrgiakos, Rodriguez, Wilson, Ngog, Poulsen.

Johnson looks like he has a problem already, just after 7 minutes. I think it's a hamstring. Kyrgiakos comes on, rather than Wilson.

A scrappy start with most of our passes coming from Carragher, and inevitably are long hoofs.
