Just today i received this email from TFC.
At what point will TFC FO stop with their sales/marketing tactics to try and spin something. (ie. just a $1 per game increase per ticket, false pricing on the face of the tickets, season 1, 2 for 1 vouchers for a friendly)....now, how exactly is the home opener a "freebie". Last i checked i paid my invoice back in november, they credited us for the champions league tickets we all didnt want in the package, but no where did they say the home opener was free. They didnt reduce the cost of my season ticket package along the way.

Am i missing something or is this all fishy marketing.

Hey TFC FO. Why not just be straight with us from the beginning when it comes to ticket pricing. Total cost of season seat divided by the # of games you are providing us. No "throw in" or TBD games as they falsify costing. Only regular season. A simple formula really. You may actually see some happy customers and less complaints about how you go about invoicing season tickets...and then, shame on us if we still decide to complain because at that point we know exactly what we are getting ourselves into and can take it or leave it.

    Hey Mark,
On Saturday, the Reds kick off Season V against expansion side Portland Timbers. Before we officially start the 2011 season at BMO Field we wanted to take care of a little pre-game house cleaning:
    Your Season Ticket Package:
By now you should have received your Season Ticket Package via Purolator courier. If it has yet to arrive, click here to access your Account Manager; you can find your tracking number under "Account Settings".
    Online Account Manager:

Online Account Manager has been activated, you now have the ability to:
    • 'Print' and 'Forward' you tickets to friends and colleagues
    • Reprint your 2011 account statement (active until March 31st)
    • Utilize the ticket exchange feature*

    * Please remember that the Home Opener was on us! Since this game was a freebie, it is not available to post on the TFC Online ticket exchange. You can still print or forward your ticket(s) for that match through AccountManager.

I got the same email and thought the same thing, TFC marketing at no time told me that the 1st game was a freebie.

This was after the hot stove meetings with the supporters group and the restructuring of the price - late November, maybe? Don't have the email, but definitely remember it.

Doom Boy is correct - I was at the town hall meeting and that was done as part of the overall appology to the fans. The overall pricing of the season ticket package included the first game of the season to be compliments of MLSE and TFC.

Ok, so now instead of my total divided by 19 games (17 regular season + 2 nutrilite, 1 of which is a TBD by the way..) i divide my total by 18 games (16 regular season games + 2 nutrilite)....Now its actually more per game as a total cost. I also remember the "its only $1 more per ticket per game increase, well i guess that blows even that out of the water.

Town hall meetings...thats great...for the 150 people that actually went. Glad you and 149 others got the message. the other 21000 or so this is new news too.

There was e-mails and even newspaper stories in the media last year during renewal time about the one game being free (essentially the season ticket price being reduced for those renewing).

It wasn't only told to those that attended the Town Hall meeting (I don't think they even mentioned it until the very last of those meetings, if then).

I don't understand the need to blame the club on every post. The season is just beginning. We should be celebrating, not whining incessantly.

what exactly should we be celebrating? no playoffs, a horrible start to the season, 2 years of rebuilding on top of it according to our new leaders.

    i see nothing to celebrate.

and ill guarantee you that the majority are hearing this for the first time. Like i said, the only reduction came from the elimination of the CL games from the package, not from anything else. Again, this is stealth tactics, print one $ figure on the tickets, indicate a % discount if you are a season seat holder renewing, tell us its one # of games, then its another #, include TBD games...

NOTHING IS FREE AND IF YOU BELIEVE IT, YOUR THE SUCKER THAT THEY LOOK FOR. Im not saying Im not paying the $2500 for my pair, just tell me exactly what im paying for ONCE and let it go. Dont play games with #s to make it look good on you.

Spring. A chance to watch soccer.

If you want guaranteed success playoff contenders every year go become a Yankees fan.

I just don't see the point of this endless whining, particularly when much of the whining is about stuff that isn't even real.

Season ticket pricing is very simple. Red should have been $2,716 a pair.

In Red the 2011 season ticket package was simply $68 times the 19 games, plus the 2010 MLS cup which was at the old 2010 pricing (2 times $67) ... which came to $1,426 a ticket. Then they made the announcement about the first game being free ... sometime back in October I believe ... and the renewal changed to $1,358.

I don't see the point of raising this one-game free marketing thing 6-months after it happened.

If cost is such a huge issue for you, perhaps you should be in cheaper seats.

if thats the way it breaks down, then i stand corrected on the cost. thats all i wanted to know...what is my per ticket price as i find it difficult to keep up with the change emails throughout Oct/nov/dec and my pay schedule of nov/dec/jan. Ill find out from my ticket rep if thats in fact how it broke down on the total. If so, im wrong and i missed that communication.

I have personally had enough of these demands for higher expectations!

You, sir, would set us on the slippery slope of winning a championship someday!

    Unthinkable!

I'm just happy we have a team in the Tdot, I love the game of Futball and the pre game experience getting together with other TFC supporters on a Saturday Afternoon I understand the last 4 years have been trying.

Hopefully better things to come... hey if I can endure the Leafs for the last 36 years TFC is a cake walk...If your not happy with your TFC experience just walk away nobody will stop you, you will just be weeded out with true TFC fans I'm just sick of all the bickering you have choices nobody is putting a gun to your head. ALL FOR ONE! ;)

Bright sunshine with barely a cloud in the sky and light winds. The pitch is bright green. Yeah, a little on the cold side, but given that's what the weather is like tomorrow, would you sooner be at BMO Field watching soccer, or waiting another month.

Sure beats driving rain ... glass half full, not half empty.

I really don't follow Argos or Leafs. Seems to me when I followed the Expos that Toronto had some World Series not so long ago. And the Toronto Rock win a lot of championships.

Who cares what the per game price is? If I pay $750 per season ticket, I don't care whether it's $40/game or $1/game for the first 17 games and $733 for the finale. What's the difference?

None really. The team chose to reduce the price of anyone renewing last fall by one game, and this is how they chose to market it.

I think the issue was whether or not they had indicated this previously (which they had), rather than the meaning of the discount.
