Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** jesus, i forgot that he's 31 when i read the name 'buffon' a youtube clip of all his greatest saves started running through my head and i kept thinking, 'damn, this guy's gotta be worth at least 20mill'
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Adriano's contract was 5m before tax. His actual annual wage was about 2.6-2.8 million. Buffon's current contract is probably nearer 10-11m than 6m but the 6m is only the money he'll receive after tax. Totti's contract is round about 9.2m but he recevies 4.8m after tax. If Juve are going to try and cut his wage after tax to 3m, then we could definitely offer higher than that. As you say, giving Buffon 6m a year (before tax) is much better than giving Adriano 5m to have no effect on our season. I think we'd still have to offer him a wage of about 4.0-4.5m after tax to get him to join us. @decola - At 31 though, do you not think it'd be a great time to get him? He could play at a world class level for another possibly 5-7years.

Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** I'm not sure what the tax % is in Italy but I'm pretty sure in the UK, if you earn 6m a year, you fall into the 43% taxing bracket. I'm sure it's somewhere similiar in Italy as it is to the UK and in Spain it's around 27% for the kind of wages we're talking about (a few pundits have speculated that's why so many top players flock to Spain). If anyone can be bothered getting a calculator out and calculating Buffon's wage before tax, I'm sure the tax payment that Juve make for Gigi is more than most of our players' wages. Look at Amauri's wage lol! Pizarro's wage is a shambles when you compare it to his importance to this team.
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Viviano is probably both a better potential and a less costly option. I would start our reconstruction from midfield and defence this year. --------------Viviano---- --Beck/Isla--Mexes--Juan--Taiwo-- ----DDR---Banega--K.Asamoah/Poli---- ---------Menez-----Vucinic------ ---------------Totti------------ Beck/Isla-8m, Taiwo-free,Banega-18m, K.Asamoah-10m,

Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Il Romanista claim these are Di Benedetto's 8 untouchables:
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** We are obliged to have him on the list don't believe those posters - I think that list might include everyone except for Borriello and Menez
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** I want to hear their god damn plan and how much money is going to be available this summer so I can freaking input it into Football Manager. I guess I should stop playing Football Manager with Aabar as my owners and sugardaddy.
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Good choice Mr. Di Benedetto!!!... but I would put out Borrielo... je,je,je
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** That list seems like BS to me. The only ones untouchable there for me id say are pizarro De Rossi Totti and Mexes.
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Its says here Di Benedetto is already in Rome trying to finalize and anticipate the takeover....
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** I'm watching the argentina vs usa game and wow...banega is REALLY good
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** So is Messi haha but yeah Banega is impressive
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Word has it that Di Benedetto landed in Rome today, can anybody verify this? Also word has it that this Sabatini (spelling?) will BBQ the new sporting director.. I'm pushing for Baldini tho. Lastly I'm hearing a bunch of new names thrown in for the summer.. Take them with a grain of salt, Podolski, Markova Martin (Bremen), Nilmar (villareal).. They all sound like possible Menez replacements
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** It's going to be nice to finally get some proper info from the new owners. Personally I don't believe much in all the rumors of heavy investing and big name players. Hope people aren't upset if Ancelotti, Baldini, and player X was all here say.
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Personally I'd prefer a clear project of Roma both short- and long-term with clear objectives - including winning both Scudetto and CL at some time...This is the most difficult year that our new owners will have for a transfer campaign: 1. Huge investement 2. Covering of nearly 50 million debts 3. Obliged to buy Borriello for 10-12 million 4. Possibly no CL money 5. No money from TV broadcasts....So, spending no more than additional 10-20 millions would be more than generous from their part, taking into account that we do not sell anyone...
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** We can win Serie A next year, it doesnt require much to win the serie a title. Right now we still have a squad which on paper is at least third best to Milan/Inter. However the CL is a different story, too many sides superior to us
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** Messi was all over the pitch last night but if we have to start dreaming American, maybe someone should start thinking about signing an 18 year old Colombian-born American named Juan Agudelo who scored the equalizer.... Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** proper management and targeted transfer campaign can bring you the CL glory...what about this? GK: Buffon, Marchetti/J.Sergio/Curci RB: Dani Alves/Isla, Cassetti/Cassani CB: Mexes, Juan, Burdisso N., Lugano/Subotic/Luisao LB: Balzaretti, Riise Mide Rossi, Pizarro, Aquilani, Sahin, Hamsik, Pastore Fw: Totti, Vucinic, Borriello, Sanchez, Menez --------------------------Buffon--------------------------- Isla-------------Mexes--------------Juan----------Balzaretti --------Aquilani-----------DeRossi----------Hamsik--------- ----------------Pastore------------------------------------ -------------------------------------Sanchez-------------- -------------------------Vucinic--------------------------- Even if it looks like a dream team, this can certainly be achieved in e.g. 3 years time: 2011 - buy Buffon, Balzaretti and Isla 2012 - Buy Aquilani, exchange Menez + money for Sanchez and restore age deficits (e.g. Juan for Subotic, etc.) 2013 - Buy Pastore and Hamsik
Re: Can we dream now? ** American Speculation Thread ** I see one big name signing to please the fans.... ANcelotti? 50% chance. Not tragic though if he doesn't arrive.
