    Exactly the problem.

They also would send me a push about a goal, then you'd go to the scores page and it wasn't there yet. The MDL scores page was probably 10-15 minutes behind the push messages.

I was getting repeat pushes spaced apart by minutes.

I have a question guys... Rumour has it that you cannot watch live matches in the area that you live? So for instance, I'm an LA Galaxy fan and live in the area.... therefore I cannot watch live matches of my team? I understood there to be blackouts if the match was actually being broadcasted live on TV, like ESPN national broadcasts... can anyone give any clarification on blackout because of the area you live in?

    thanks so much

If the game you want to watch is available on TV in the area you're in (based on your IP) then it will be blacked out live on MDL. You will be able to watch the archived version after a set period of time (48 hours I think).

Ok, but.... Saturdays game against Salt Lake though being on TV is tape delayed.... so the simple question is: Can we watch a game live streamed that though being on in the corresponding market is tape delayed?

I'm not 100% sure but I doubt it. Last year when there was no TV planned in Denver for the Colorado @Chicago game the feeds were still going to be blacked out in Denver until the Rapids GM called the MLS Front Office to get them to lift the blackout in Denver.

Last year in LA was interesting when it came to tape delayed telecasts in SoCal for the Galaxy. The game would be blacked out on DirectKick but still streamable on MDL. I watched quite a few Galaxy games live via the internet without being able to watch them on TV. And this was particularly strange because the Galaxy games would be blacked out on MDL whenever the local broadcast was live.

    Strange but true.

I expect both to be blacked out this Saturday for the Galaxy match at RSL. I'll either watch it at 10:30 or watch an illegal stream if I happen to be able to during that 2 hour window.

Agreed. The Union's roster is inaccurate, for example.

First of all, it is sad that I have to come to a fan discussion board to get answers about an MLS product since it is unclear where to find the answers on their site (if at all).

Second, am I correct in understanding that for $20 I can watch some games live on my iPhone, but for $40 I can watch more on my computer? The blackout rule is annoying since the primary reason I (and likely most of us) would pay to see matches is to see our home team when we can't get to a television that is showing it, such as when we are traveling as I will be this weekend.

Do we know if all matches will be available for replay after 48 hours? And will that be mobile and Internet? If I can use my phone like a DVR for the games I miss and watch some other league games it might be worth the $20

    Very true

The games you can watch on the mobile app are the same ones you can watch on your computer. If the game is blacked out on the iphone, either because it is on national TV or a local broadcast, then it will be blacked out on the computer.

The black out is based on your current location. This is why it is required that you allow the app to identify your location. If you are traveling outside your team's broadcast area, you should be able to watch it. IE, if you generally live in the Boston area and want to watch NER games, the games are blacked out. However, if you go on a trip to Chicago, the NER games will be watchable, but the Chicago games will be blacked out.

Someone else will have to answer this one.

I seem to recall that if games were blacked out locally, they would get to the archives, but if they were a national blackout (ie an ESPN or Telefutura game) they wouldn't. That's a foggy memory, though.

Hmmm, so if the number of matches is the same then the phone app is half price. (the number of games listed on the web site is larger than the number of games listed on the app...as noted earlier in this thread) Perhaps it is because it is reduced for reduced screen size ;) I suppose the connectivity of using the Internet and streaming to multiple devices makes that use more valuable as well.

Honestly that probably is the reason. Smaller screen size means less data-intensive transfer.

So is anyone else having issues with the audio being out of sync on highlights? Seems a good second or two off most of the time especially when using AirPlay to the apple tv. Also emailed support about including full match archives on the iPad app. Got a fairly worthless response that my request was forwarded on.

Is there a way to hide the scores in the iPad app, like you can on the computer? If I'm checking highlights Saturday night or Sunday morning, I'd rather not have the results spoiled.
