Could be some fire behind the rumour:

Using my semi-knowledge of Italian and "Spanish Translation for Dummies" (aka Google Translate), seems that the youngster is co-owned by Inter and Torino. He isn't getting minutes in Torino and (I think) the claim was a change in manager hasn't helped his cause, so the feeling is "Why not go to North America and get some playing time?". The FCInternews headline translates to roughly "Credible rumour".

Young Serbian midfielder with upside. Unfortunately, a midfielder - not a back or striker.

man this is great!! Alen will grab the middle and DeRo should move out left WHERE HE SHOULD BE.

    DeRo Gordon? Martina
    Stevanovic
    JDG Sturgis/Bouchiba/Zavarise
    Yourasovsky Attakora Cann Gargan

With an addition of a left back and Omphroy stepping up soon to take out Gargan, that is a solid team...

it's the same thing a week before every season...a crowded midfield with spotty back and front lines.

Assume he would be a replaceman for LaBrocca if indeed this rumor is true

its also the same every season...long pre season to put together a gelled squad that can play with each other...then instead, weeks before the season starts..flurry of activity with names and players signed and stuff....no cohesion coming into the regular season.

It's a bit different this year - these guys have all been playing together for nearly two months now. The chemistry should be there - it's just the paperwork that's been later. The Stevanovic thing (should it be more than a rumour) would take time due to co-ownership between Inter and Torino

I wonder how much of this has to do with Aron Winter's experience coaching young players and perhaps his reputation as well.

That good to hear, give us other attacking options. I am looking forward to seeing Plata come off the bench and give us some pace when needed.

So do we have this stevanovic guy on loan or do we own his rights. In other words, how long is he here? wasn't mentioned in the article.

I like the move. Saw the clip, this kid showed some aggression near the end when he was ready to brawl, that aggression will come in handy in MLS. Stevanovic is a great piece that will help this club short term until it is time to gather other reinforcements for the long haul. He will also do great for the league's rep, as he is known as a prospect (not a retiring player..) in europe playing at a respectable level.

Best case scenario, this kid comes over with a good attitude and becomes one of the offensive guns on our team while adding creativity we currently lack. He should gain confidence in a weaker league. And when he ends his loan with good will there will be statements on how competitive MLS is and that it was still a challenge for him, and when he heads over to europe he will do well, basically exemplifying the high level of soccer being player in North America.

Ever better scenario he fits in great and loves it soo much that he convinces higher European powers to let him stay in Toronto. Not very likely...

But he will fit in just nicely :)

that video shows some skill. This cant hurt and i think he may be a good link between Dero and Santos up front for some good service.
