That's just him talking about when he and his old war buddies would make racist comments on the World War One battle lines

Just want to add, under the mod Umar's Foe List its labeled as so:

Foe: Maccabi Tel Aviv FC, Washington.

He is making it pretty clear which Religion he hates

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maccabi_Tel_Aviv_F.C.

that being said I do not feel someone like Umar can complain about people attacking Islam when he himself indirectly admits in his profile that he hates Jewish people.

SuperMod's I ask an investigation into this matter.

    thanks.

By be smart about it he means "don't piss off Umar," since that's what this is all about.

So are you mods sayin that we can diss religion as long as it's funny? If so, then give us some examples on what's acceptable. For example, if a poster says "Here's a pic of muhammed", then posts a pic of Gary Glitter, does it pass? Or that famous "jesus saves" pic of him as a goalie. Or photoshopping pedo bear into the koran. Or the many demotivational posters out there about religion. Or George Carlin vids about religion (those are hilarious).

I'm sure you could find it if you tried hard enough.

Christopher Hitchens is a bit more realistic in his critiques of religion, Myers is just the atheist equivalent to Glen Beck.

If you're smart enough to know the difference between playing a lighthearted stereotype and an outright attack on a faith then you'll be fine. Regardless of ones views on religion, for some people it is very important and even sacred.

Well then you should say what you mean in the first place. I would have thought that my comment in the other thread about "Which youth player looks most like Aisha" being off limits in contrast to "Which player looks most like Muhammad" was clever and kind of funny, at least to people that don't take shit so seriously, but what I think you have meant all along is don't piss off religious people. Their beliefs are off limits unless its a banal lighthearted stereotype that won't actually offend them.

So don't make jokes about people who supposedly married a nine year old if they are an important religious figure.

Also, it's probably best not to joke about 33 year old "virgin" males who had very close relationships with men if they happen to be revered.

Got it. Only silly pictures of "Jesus Saves" are cool.

Right. You've told us many times. You don't like repetative low IQ people who have a wife that sleeps around.

    We get it already.

It's ok to joke about all religions except the muslim religion. That is what I read into the ban.

Why are you so fixated on Islam? If it's atheist beliefs, why don't your posts ever discuss Christianity or Judaism for example?

Well in fairness, the Christians have been getting crap for a long time. At least since the age of enlightenment. Muslims, in contrast, aren't as used to being roasted about their beliefs.

That is why picking on them where it hurts is funnier.

Because we don't have any Christian mods that cry like a baby when you insult them :D.

To be honest I don't have any particular beef with Muslims. I tend to find religious people in general silly, maybe a little dangerous as far as the future of mankind - but that's neither here nor there.

I think what you will find is that I tend to pick on anybody and everybody, but mostly people who take themselves seriously, or since it is World Rivalries, after all, people who take the piss out of the US or the US team. Hence my "fixation" with Mexico and the English. Of course I'm the type of person who will go there.

And as I said earlier. Since clearly Umar got his vajayjay hurt by it, I'll chill on the Muslim thing if he gets rid of his (or your or whoever's) stupid rule.

Tell you what. If you want I am more than willing to start an equivalently hostile thread about Jews and or Christians if it will make you feel better.

I'll answer you here as to not further derail the DPT thread. People seem to be complaining about having to be PC on WR (please,) when the whole point is about being able to speak our minds, since we have to tip-toe around certain topics everywhere else on the site. I like the place because the mods are allowed to laugh at stupid/ignorant posters rather than infracting them.

But basically if smack talk and piss taking spirals out of control (or if genuine bigots begin to take advantage of it for their own agendas) then we have to step in. For almost two years we discussed Spain's racial problems, but eventually every thread on the topic ended in an F all the Spaniards party, so I removed myself from the discussion. Similarly everyone laughs at the MLS and Americans, but when someone posted pictures of the twin towers falling and people burning to death, the mods put a stop to it.

We're all here to act like assholes and have a laugh at someone else's expense, but not to promote hatred. We have had some serious discussions about race and religion, but for the most part the politics board is a better place for them. People have mocked Islam and Jews for years and noone had any problem with it. But now we have a couple of posters (a certain Norwegian who watches the Serie A comes to mind) who seem have alterior motives. This won't be overmoderated if that's what you're worried about, but we won't allow certain types of posters to hijack the board.

Tell me when I cried? You do realise that my conversations are available for viewing, right? I initially let your thread be. I only locked it when you admitted that it was a trojan horse designed to let you say that Mohammed was a paedophile. I didn't delete it. I addressed your slurs in your own thread in a serious fashion, then tried to get it back onto the topic of sports twice. You were too stupid to take the hint - that's on you, not me.

And those complaining about a lack of freedom of speech do realise that there is a religion subforum, right? Why is Rivalries the appropriate forum to vent your spleen about religion? It's supposed to be about sports and nations.

lol, the rule is evidence of your crying. As is your deletion of every post of mine about the topic since.

And I did agree not to "vent my spleen" about your religion, so you should get rid of your silly rule.

But as I said. I have no beef about Islam in general, but I do have a tendency to go there with anyone. Especially with something so obvious as this whol pedophile thing.

    I'm afraid not.

Did I not give you fair warning to keep things on topic? Again your inability to follow simple, reasonable requests is something that you need to address, not me.

I don't really care about it, tbh, but the fact that you specifically deleted my posts only in a discussion about a new rule that was prompted by a mod posting the new rule in every single thread proves my point. I was on topic . That became the topic of every thread.

So why not take my deal then?

Did I delete before I posted this as a response to Guy Fawkes:
    and this...

... or did I delete after? Again, if you can't respond in a civil manner to a reasonable request, repeated with the reason explained, then stop whinging about deleted posts afterwards.

I'm not here to negotiate with you - the decision is with the Supers and with the mods of WR as a collective. This isn't about me and you, despite what you want to believe.

Right . It obviously is what started it. I don't care about deleted posts either, but your selectivity in that regard both before and after your request is what proves my point. It's what made me realize it was specifically about what I had said rather than a problem in general, which is what you are now claiming.

You even told me that you deleted them because I no longer "had the benefit of the doubt" before you edited it to make it a general statement. I get it. I touched a nerve and I won't do it anymore. I'll admit my part in it.

But to claim that your reaction isn't what caused this is ridiculous.

Don't flatter yourself Matt. It wasn't that last rubbish thread that started it nor were you the poster that started it either. Your animosity is also directed at the wrong moderator. You know how WR works and the rule is not going away so learn how to adapt and let it go already.
