Davidson wins 1-0. I know all you haters out there are going to start up in full force. A classic example of a game where a lesser team played smart, defended like crazy, and then got a lucky one to win. The goal was nothing more than a deflection, and Davidson was glad to sit back. That said, UNC did not play well and hardly deserved a result. A wakeup call for sure for the defending champs. And a great boost to Davidson's program.
I'm not a hater, but... This was a post on an earlier UNC thread titled "Repeat." "How do you defend against Storey, Crawford, Testo, Pause, Kneipper and Gell?" I guess Davidson found a way..."Lots of 1-0 games" and "the best team doesn't always win" suddenly don't sound so "brilliant" when they hit home a bit.. Anyway, I'm not "hating" b/c as an ACC fan, I'm embarrassed for UNC. This could hurt them later b/c it is loss to a "lesser" team as well as a loss in region. But again, it could also be just what they need to get things kickstarted. There character will now be tested and we will see how they respond. As I said in a different thread, it's a lot different when the target is on your back and everybody is giving you their best shot.
