I really liked what I saw out of Cvitanich. He brought a lot of energy to the game and his hold up play is probably better than De Jong's. I wouldn't mind seeing him up top with Mickey and Ebecilio and having Eriksen/Anita/De Jong in midfield. Nice victory. I think our biggest challenge (before the Twente game) is going to be ADO away.
I remember how quick people were to criticize our back 4 at the beginning of the season. Here we are again having conceded the fewest goals and collected the most clean sheets all season.
Yes totally happy with the work he put in today. He was getting beaten up all over the field but never stopped running and came through with a beautiful assist for Anita. Didn't miss Mounir for a split second.
heh true, dont see Mounir anytime soon, at least for the rest of this season wouldn't mind like what Ave say Ebe--Cvitanich--Sulej Anita--Demy--DJong would love to see that against Willem
Yeah, but de Boer didn't find Cvitanich good enough to make the squad selection and now he gets to start? Not many options either way. With Mounir out, maybe he can grab his chance and prove the coach wrong, though.
I'd much rather see Eriksen in there than De Zeeuw. He may have had an off game yesterday, but he is an amazing talent.
If he can play 90 minutes like he did when he came in yesterday, I think our concerns at that position are solved.
The red card was not correct. Replays from several angles showed that Pelle hit the ball. The ref might have sent the Ajax player off too, as he came in with the same tackle. Watched the BBC yesterday night and they were moaning about the quality of refereeing too, so it must be a virus spreading in Europe.
Vertonghen on Mounir... "We have agreed that we won't say anything about the reason behind El Hamdaoui's demotion to the reserves. But I can assure you that many of the stories about Mounir's situation are false," said Vertonghen to Ajax Life. "It's disappointing that all kinds of stories are made up. It's as if some people are trying to create something that's not there. "We're very strong as a team and we all want Mounir to return to the first team as soon as possible. I'm confident that he'll make a comeback. The team doesn't have a problem with him. We all have faith in him that he'll bounce back from this."
Yep, some time ago I saw on the Rotterdam regional TV station the message that the Rotterdam player Mounir was being ufairly treated by the Amsterdam club and coach
Nice words from Vertonghen, but El Hamdaoui's days at Ajax ought to be over by now. At most, he could finish the season and play if needed... But that's about it.
Dutch tv has both the Ajax and PSV games live with Twente highlights later in the evening for the zillionth time in a row. Tukkers are not happy!
It's all about contracts signed before the start of the season. They signed a contract with Ajax and PSV to televise all their European games. So even if Twente were to play Barcelona and Ajax by contrast some Albanian outfit, they'd still show the Ajax game. I kind of like the idea that Belgian television are adopting us as their fave team now, by the way.
Jan van Halst, ex Ajax player and current General Manager at Twente is dissapointed that RTL has once again opted to show both Ajax and PSV instead of Twente (somehow unaware of pre-arranged contracts as told by a certain poster). "They are only looking at the commercial aspect". As told to Voetal International:" I really thought they would broadcast the return against Rubin Kazan". RTL spokesperson Peter Lubbers has this to say Brands like Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, in that order, are simply attracting the most viewers. And that's why we cater our audience, in that order.
Ajax is after Danish starlet Viktor Fischer (forward, 16) http://www.bold.dk/nyt/Ajax-bejler-til-dansk-stortalent
Lovely. Our future first team is looking very Scandinavian with all of the young talent we are bringing in. Anybody know how Toivomaki has been doing since he's arrived? Is he playing with Jong Ajax? I haven't heard much about him since we picked him up.
Why must we indulge in child trafficking? Will there be a proper fee paid? I'm opposed to these underage transfers in general.
That's kind of hard when Ajax is known to be doing exactly that for years. Not sure if it's necessarily child trafficking but I do think other clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea) have made this business a lot nastier.
Arsenal and Chelsea do it with impunity and don't compensate the teams that did the youth investment. I think we did compensate Eriksen's home club and our three Belgians (including Vermaelen) were a special case as there was a working agreement with their parent club.
