This seems like the best attitude on the situation.

    lol

    Im sorry, but.... lol

"Hey guys! As long as the dancing girls don't distract me (well why are they there then, eh?) I'm cool with the team wasting however much moneys on them!"

Adam can you clarify whether or not the girls will perform during the run of play? Will they only do their routines during pre game and at halftime?

I said "I would rather not have them, but it won't effect my enjoyment if they are there." I don't think they are a good idea, as far as I'm concerned it adds nothing to the event or my enjoyment of it. For ME and my interest the money would be better spent somewhere else. But if they're going to be there, as long as they aren't blocking my view or annoying me in some such manner I won't get my panties in a twist over it.

Nah, I get what you are saying. And I see your point.

However, I'd love to hear the team justify the expenditure. The Rowdies are probably going to be wasting money on our "Kick It Girls" as well, and even if they aren't doing actual dance routines it is still highly questionable to be paying for this.

ESPECIALLY considering they can't seem to find a reason to justify providing quality match day programs or real patches on the kits or any number of other small details that would class up the whole operation.

As far as I know, any performances will take place during either pregame or halftime. This won't be like a Preds game where the dancers run out during an extended TV timeout.

You can't answer definitively? Can't imagine the office is so big and so busy you can't get a yes or no answer for us.

    This is a politician's answer.

Your PR person not giving a straight answer to a straight question. Pretty simple.

Enjoy your dancing girls interrupting the run of play, I guess.

You appear to be the one person west of bleeding Neptune ignorant of the fact that most of a pr person's job is to manage the---follow this part closely---"relation"-ship between the---once again, zero in on this next bit---"public" and the entity relating to their public.

He gave you the straightest answer their business office has, no matter how large or small their staff might actually be. And if none of this sinks in, ask yourself this question, "When was the last time I saw some promo piece from McDonald's that said, 'We enjoy selling high-fat food cheaply to as many people as possible so we can hook them on it and make them fat'"? Do you recall those Form commercials in the mid-70's that said, "Buy a shiny new Pinto and immolate your family every time you back into a flea"? Have you seen the Volvo ads that say, "We're boxy, but we're good"?

If you haven't caught on by now that the pr people, the madison ave. people, and the rest of the spindustrial complex people tell you just enough truth to get you to bite their hook, then I expect that explains why you're quite so flummoxed by whether or not there will be dancing girls at a bleeding first year, division-3 soccer team.

The guy is on their pr staff. He's passing along whatever info they have on a given day. Lay off already.

We're still barely under a month away from the home opener for crying out loud, what do you want the team to send you a video of their planned choreography (assuming that's what they're going to do)? That way you can provide your seal of approval or make more snide comments about the professionalism of the club or lack thereof?

rofl. You guys are really cute. I get it. Circle the wagons "hey man don't criticize our amateur PR guy!", etc.

No problem. Enjoy the ladies. I hope they can at least dance.

"Circle the wagons" is so 1900s. But yeah, we probably all know Adam from even before his PR days, so yeah.

But anyways, enough about the dancers. The various opinions are heard and understood. Any other issues to talk about?

Like the email I just received about season ticket packages and a game 3 days away? What was that all about?

That hasn't arrived in my inbox yet, what did it say?

I think everyone is just getting tired of you feigning interest or concern in something as trivial as Orlando City Soccer Club's dancers and their game day activities.

I'm not feigning interest at all. I sincerely want to know and I sincerely think its a ridiculous waste of money for any lower division soccer team. I want Orlando to succeed just like I want the Strikers and FCTB to succeed. Having three pro teams in Florida now, after having none just a few years ago, is great and having them stick around would be fantastic, whatever level everyone ultimately ends up playing in.

Wasting money on unnecessary and poorly managed projects (FCTB tried to have a marching band last year, ffs) should be met with critical response.

I don't have a definitive answer on the dancers because I have't been included in the discussions about the dance team save for the little bit that has been brought up in general staff meetings.

Personally, they aren't my thing on matchday, save for a halftime performance or greeting fans on the concourse, but for community events on non-game days they are very helpful. Last year with the Preds, we used our dancers a lot at events where the staff was already stretched thin. They often end up being great community ambassadors.

Something like that could be ok if the cost isn't too high. The Rowdies are trying to put together something similar, but we have no idea if they've managed it yet or not. We've been told the girls will be more akin to the hype guys that come out during breaks at NBA games throwing t-shirts into the crowd, rather than dancers.

But if the club is paying them to come practice routines, paying to provide uniforms and paying someone to train them (usually need a dance coach of some kind) then I'd imagine the expense goes much higher than if they are only hired as ambassadors. In which case it's a waste of money for a D2/D3 team.

What you described, and what FCTB is looking at putting together, would be acceptable up to a point.

Unless this is the kind of atmosphere you like at your soccer games:
