And I think Antifan's confusion is at the fact that it doesn't take a genius to assemble a 55 million £ strikeforce. :D

then again, it does take something, be it luck or genius or good management, to play evans, gibson, smalling, anderson, and the decrepits etc and still get away with it.

Is that the same genius or good manager that signed them in the first place ?

ah, but there are 2 points to that....reduced cash to buy better in all the spots where better is needed (there's also a case against that...bebe is a glaring one), and then actually getting the results using those makeshift players.
i find ferguson a bit of an enigma. in some respects i think he is a grade A a**hole, in other ways i have a lot of respect for him. i can't deny the obvious that he is clearly a very astute manager (most of the time). the simple fact is, if he had been arsenal's manager we'd all have loved him to bits.

Ferguson is an extremely good manager tactically and motivationally.

His major downside is his signing of players. He has bought some very talented players, but most of those top players cost a load of money. Buying top players for huge sums isn't particularly tricky. If you spend 200k on a car, you're pretty much guaranteed a great car, same with players, however he has also bought some absolute pups. Because ManU were the richest club in England by a long way for many years, he got away with it. He is credited with bringing through a load of very talented kids, but to honest, since Beckham there has been nothing.

I'd agree with the enigma bit, when he comes up with statements such as the one recently about Rooney being hounded over the elbow incident by the press because he is Rooney, I sometimes wonder whether he actually believes what he says. If he does, then he's a muppet. If he's doing it for the purposes of deflection, then he's clever. We can only guess.

Incredibly (or predictably :p) after being demoted for a whole week  dowd is appointed for the Liverpool clash so we can expect a titled match.

This will be one of the most gambled matches of the season in Asia.

Will Liverpool see some of that institutional support come back now thay have in insider back on the throne?

Good to see the FA are focusing on the important issues in football at the moment...

It was FIFA, but it doesn't matter (also not sure this is the right thread for other teams discussion)

They do not want to invest in goal line technology, but feel snoods are important

So dowd in to tilt todays match as he often does against United ;)

In an extraordinary statement King Kenny has already warned the powers that be that liverpool expect their fair share of biased decisions

Given Red nose is fighting the FA including using video evidence to prove the corruption of Atkinson, i think we can assume the ref won't be favourable to united

strictly speaking it was ifab, and, to be honest, i agree with them, for various reasons.

Wow who could have predicted it?

The tackle on Nani was LOL

See how hard it is to win games as the skilful team when you get roughed up?

Except I wouldn't argue that Man Utd was the skillful team today.

It's funny how Arsenal has no defense or goalkeeper yet have conceded 3 less goals than United have

it's quite hard when your top assister gets hacked out of the game with a studs up challenge

that'll learn fergie for daring to talk about tilting in public

Whats the point questioning the referees? They dont pick themselves for a match..
