Saw first advertisement in the Express this AM. DCU is referring to Benny as "The General" dont know if I like that nickname for him.
Absolutley agree with you. For me Tino did not cut it when he played at CM or ACM. I really like Boloni86 starting line up.
I know it's been asked before but shouldn't the full season schedule be out by now? I want to know when I can go to Chicago to see United play.
Agorsor is a forward and was the 2008 Gatorade High School Player of the Year. Went to Virginia, had some injuries, and then went pro. He's currently training with Philly, so I would think they would be most interested in him. However, that UVA connection could be pretty strong for Benny. Veeder is a U20 (?) right back that was with CP Baltimore. Given our seeming move to have Brasesco as a CB, Veedor could be an option for RB (or Zayner could claim it himself). He's also in our backyard, so the FO should know quite a bit about him. I would rather get Arnoux, but any of these players would be a decent depth pick-up and a move for a talented youngster with some pro experience.
Agorsor is a talented kid. Played at McDonogh. He featured for a tremendous Casa Mia Bays team. The guy was playing on one good knee and making everyone look foolish in the U-19 win a few years ago. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=570369&sec=ncaa&root=ncaa&cc=5901 Not sure how his knee is treating him these days, but it would be interesting to see him in a DC shirt.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we'll "try for" all three, right? I know we held ourselves out of an earlier lottery, but my assumption is that it's not that you have to pick only one lottery to enter, but rather that if you happen to *win* one of these lotteries, you are then subsequently excluded from the remaining ones. By that theory, then, we bowed out of the last one because getting another young, unproven GK wasn't worth losing our place in the Arnoux stakes. If I'm right, then this is very promising; we should have the best odds in each of these three lotteries (until/unless we win one).
I think this is correct, except for one thing I'm not sure of: I don't know whether you're *excluded* from subsequent lotteries that year, or just drop to the bottom of the probability list (that is, you have the lowest weight in the next lottery).
You drop if you don't win the player. Thusly, if United get pipped for Arnoux, they will have the best odds for Argosor and also for Veeder should United crap out (or pass) on Argosor. United will pick up a good player out of any of those 3..
That doesn't make sense. Why would your chances of winning the next one drop if you *don't* win this one? I think there's a semantic issue of some kind here, because this statement (which is correct) seems in contradiction to your previous statement; and neither answers the question I was getting at. Or maybe that "don't" was superfluous? Let me put it another way: suppose DC wins the lottery for Arnoux. Is DC ineligible for the next lottery (presumably for Agorsor)? Or is DC eligible, but with the lowest chance of winning of all the teams in the lottery? Kris seemed to me to be saying the first; I think the second is right, but I'm not sure.
99% certain that you are out of the next lottery after you win one. IE San Jose will not be able to participate in the lottery for Arnoux and if we were to win that lottery we would not participate in on for Agorsor. This resets at the end of each season (based of course on how terrible you were).
My reading of the "rules" is that once you win a lottery, you are ineligible for any future lotteries during the year. I suppose this is to discourage teams who sucked last year from picking up players they don't want just to hold them hostage to teams who do want them.
Huh, I would never refer to that as your odds dropping. The number in the front goes down, yes; but "odds" = "chances", and they increase there. But anyway, it's semantics, and I suspect we're all on the same page.
Bootsy, Ives mentioned early on his site the following: "San Jose is not included in any of the three lotteries after winning the lottery for University of California goalkeeper David Bingham about two weeks ago." Based on that, if DC stays in the Arnoux lottery and wins, DC would be out of the next two lotteries and probably any other lottery the rest of the season.
Huh. Interesting, thanks. I wonder what they'd do if more players than teams came back for lotteries. I guess that's way too unlikely for them to consider.
