I really wish they would release the lineups used. We didn't hear or have not heard much about some of the players, ie Brasesco, Mena, Brettshneider, Willis, Barklage...I know its early days, but I am anxious to put last year behind me.

I'd say wait until Monday when we actually play other teams. Intra-squad scrimmages are too fluid to really determine who played where.

But as far as players you listed, Barklage played CM, while Brasesco played CB. Outside of that, there really wasn't anything from the practice reports beyond who scored and who had decent scoring opportunities.

If he makes the team a new song for the Nest/Barra

Yang Men, there's no need to feel down.
I said, Yang Men, pick yourself off the ground.

There's no need to be unhappy.

Yang Men, there's a place you can go.
I said, Yang Men, when you're short on your goals.
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find

To add to Jason, Branko played Left wing. Corb played RB first half, LB second.

From reading the practice blurbs, I get the sense that Ben wants to go with a 4-4-2 with Simms and McCarty playing centrally and Najar and Boskovic on the outside. That doesn't surprise me at all, as I think quite a few people had the same formation and personnel in mind.

I dont mind that either. It gives us work rate, and quality in midfield. Hopefully Simms can recover from that injury and get back to the form that saw him even get considered for the National team.

I know nothing about Braseco, but it would please me if he's more of a CB, than a RB. James did fine last season, but we could do with depth.

i do not remember ben olsen ever being a part of any team that played any other formation than a 4-4-2, except the couple of seasons under peter nowalk, including his time at univ. of virginia. i would be surprised if he tried something else.

    1. Nowak, not Nowalk.

    2. Three seasons under Nowak, and a half-season under Soehn.

Damn Bootsy, if you keep fact-checking posts on this Board, you'll make all of us ground our opinions in facts, something which is very un-American.;)

Well, it was kinda snitty, because I agree with what I think his main point is, which is that a 352 is unlikely. It only works with a certain set of players. We had those players at one time; but I don't think we do right now.

4': #DCU goal! Boskovic crosses the ball into the area on a corner, Ngwenya redirects. 1-0 United.

8': Another #DCU goal! McCarty slots Davies through on goal, the forward assists to Ngwenya for his second strike of the match.

I guess we know we match up well against Canadian teenagers.

Yeah: winning is of course better than losing, but this is the kind of match we'd better win.

21': Another Ngwenya goal!! Hat trick for #DCU's new signing, 3-0 United.
Ngwenya's third strike came off of a Boskovic cross during a corner.

now, if we could just arrange playing U-20 teams for half the season (you never know, that might be why the schedule is not out yet!)

The DCU twitter feed really is getting hot and bothered over this isn't it! :) Eerily similar to last year's Carolina Cup.

    thanks for the updates guys!!

Is Boskovic playing out wide on the left or in the center like last year?
    Is it 4-4-2 or 4-3-3?
