in terms of budget, good balance, clean sheets.
When i see the rest of europe, especially Italy and Spain where they spend time and time again without no heavy consequences, i relly wonder why do we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Great, we have clean clubs who are not allowed 100 euros deficit or they get relagated in ligue 2, but where does that lead us in europe ?

Nowhere. We have had a club record those last 6 years second to ********, when we get to a QF of the CL it's like christmas for us.
Meanwhile you got countries that spend more than they have, have millions deficit, and get told off from time to time.

But they have results, get respect and recognition the world over and indulge themselves with the finest players around..........while we have to sell our best young players and buy end-of-career players looking for a good place to retire.

It's great to be a good boy !!!!!!!!!!!

Nice post. I think when the football finance world comes back to normal levels the French teams might be better off than most.

Having 2 teams in the quarter-finals of the CL is pretty good, and maybe one will get lucky and into the semi-finals.

I doubt one of them will make the semis Lyon had a good shot if they have gotten a draw or an away goal in Portugal but they didnt get anything so they appear to be done now. Monaco will probably lose in Madrid I'm thinking the result will be similar to the Milan-Deportivo score.

IMO French football is on the rise again. And it should be. French football is quite exciting and French teams are drowning in talent.

Who knows what the future might bring.

Why do we keep on being good students in europe[R]

It's on the rise for sure now....

Monaco 3 - Real Madrid 1, 5-5 on aggregate Monaco win on away goal.

    Bravo Guily!!!

Note: being a St-Étienne fan, this gets only better if Lyon crash out tomorrow.

PSG if you want to go deep in the CL next year your gonna have to buy some better players. You wouldn't advance past the group stage with the squad you got right now. Your not as talented as Monaco or Lyon. Its close but not quite.

"Great, we have clean clubs who are not allowed 100 euros deficit or they get relagated in ligue 2, but where does that lead us in europe ?"

That lead us to not have clubs in big troubles, like some clubs are in England or Italy, some clubs may just dispear like Fiorentina, and today there's a crise and some european clubs are in a big danger, the future must be a european DNCG or something like that, because I don't want to see some great club disapear, I'm happy that french clubs can't have crazy management...

on another side with the other problem of taxes which are so much important than in other countries, we don't fight with the same weapons...

Yeah, i understand that it's a great way to remain healthy and to keep away from troubles, but the main goal of this game is to win titles.
What happens if years after years after years we remain healthy but without silverware, while other countries go on a spending spree.
As long as the rules won't be the same for everyone, we won't be able to go very far.
We survive thanks to new talents being educated in our youth centres but even that is threatened ( see Sissoko in Auxerre ).
And as the passion in France for football is not as intense as in England, Italy, Spain..... you can't count on it for merchandising, ticket sales ect....

    The future is not bright.
Actually the future is now ( even if we have a lucky break with Monaco and Marseille ).

French Football has been an island of sanity in a sea of financial malfeasance. I think that this will stand the French in good stead.
