That one goes Dema Ko-valenko He's the biggest thug in history From the town of Chicago He's about to take out someone's knee That was from before he joined us

*sigh* 80s tunes? I'd like to revive the volveramos chant with a DCU modification (by someone with more espanol savvy than my google translate skillz) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75HjH4VtKNk&feature=related"]YouTube - Volveremos Argentina[/ame]
as i remember it... volveremos, volveremos volveremos otra vez volveremos ser campiones como el novienta y ses
Here's a marching song I submitted a few years ago, to the tune of "The Caissons Go Rolling Along": On the turf, On the grass, DCU will kick your ass, As United goes rolling along On the pitch, On the field, We will fight until you yield, As United goes rolling along So it's Hee High Ho To the Championship we go, Shout out your orders loud and clear: MORE BEER! And where 'er you go, You will always know, That United is rolling along.

'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try. I can't get no, I can't get no. When I'm drivin' in my car and that man comes on the radio and he's tellin' me more and more about some useless information supposed to fire my imagination. I can't get no, oh no no no. Hey hey hey, that's what I say. I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction. 'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try. I can't get no, I can't get no. When I'm watchin' my TV and that man comes on to tell me how white my shirts can be. Well he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke the same cigarrettes as me. I can't get no, oh no no no. Hey hey hey, that's what I say. I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no girl with action. 'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try. I can't get no, I can't get no. When I'm ridin' round the world and I'm doin' this and I'm signing that and I'm tryin' to make some girl who tells me baby better come back later next week 'cause you see I'm on losing streak. I can't get no, oh no no no. Hey hey hey, that's what I say. I can't get no, I can't get no, I can't get no satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction. i'd leave it to someone more talented to work up the proper lyrics but "i can't get no playoffaction" would seem a needed addition to any DCU song sheet
Are you really that ignorant? Have you ever heard of You'll Never Walk Alone being sung by Liverpool fans? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7xvegPH_Lw"]YouTube - You'll Never Walk Alone Liverpool V Barcelona[/ame] Do you know that's a Broadway show tune and one of the most awesome fan songs in all of sports?
It will be Karma Karma Karma Chameleon and "Ooo ooooo, ooooo ooooo, ooooo ooooo ooooo oooo oooo oooo" over and over again. Creative songs have left the Barra Brava and Screaming Eagles year ago. It's a shame.
Singing a Broadway show tune. In unison. I don't know if you never heard of the song or didn't know it came from a musical. In any case, you spout off a lot of uninformed nonsense quite often. indeed
With the music blaring in the stadium. Kinda like the recent trend in baseball games where everyone sings "God Bless America". At the time "You'll Never Walk Alone" was adopted, it was a top 10 radio hit so it's not like a bunch of fans got together and said, "Let's sing show tunes!" Now if we want to adopt a song from a musical and sing it straight, I'm all for that. But co-opting show tunes with our own words is kinda lame.
You'll Never Walk Alone: UK Singles Chart (1963) Peak position: 1 At the time it was adopted, it was essentially a pop tune and played in the stadium before the games. The fans continued to sing it after it dropped off the charts.
And at the time it was played in the stadium, it was the version by the band Gerry and the Pacemakers, not the original musical recording.
Yes, I'll concede the point that is originally a show tune. But the only reason it's sung by Liverpool is that it was recorded by a pop band and made it to the top of the pop charts. You imply that was some mystical "fan thing" where they said, "Let's sing show tunes from the terrace." It was a pop song that the fans liked and kept singing. It's like that stupid White Stripes base line that everyone else sings. (Whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa). This is a bit different than the fans co-opting a show tune and turning it into a fan song, especially a long, multi-verse fan song. THAT is lame, IMHO.
I think he's placed you on ignore, so he can't read your reply. That said, you should probably not put words in his mouth. NOBODY here has implied that anyone suggested "let's sing show tunes..." In fact, the first person who brought up that it was from a musical is you. What makes "You'll Never Walk Alone" a "fan thing" is that the fans would sing it when it was played at Anfield. Why does it matter from where a song originates if everybody sings it and it sounds great? We sing a song to the tune of Karma Chameleon, a song for prisoners, and a song adapted from a song written by Sacha Baron Cohen for Borat. Aren't we splitting hairs here when we talk about musicals? I wouldn't actually feel the need to explain all of this, but I wouldn't think you actually needed to read it if I ever saw or heard you sing, which brings about the question of why it matters to you in the first place.
I suggested Red and Black from Les Miserables because of the title. It is probably too complex to be sung by La Barra. Greek suggested Do You Hear the People Sing which, besides being a show tune, is also a fight song. As such it is totally appropriate, changing the words or not. And I agree that it doesn't make a difference if the Anfield song is a showtune or not.
