http://www.guardian.co.uk/stevenage-fan-punch-scott-laird So, why wasn't this guy kicked out before he punched a player?
Was thinking that very same thing today, as the match got towards the end of extra time. I'll give him his due...he's always been a staunch gooner. Probably has a good chance of getting a ticket too....hope he does.
big crowd, stevenage probably don't normally have a ton of stewards and (not sure) probably not anall seater ground (conference remember). the stewards probably didn't see it. it was likely someone in the crowd who saw it or the player himself.
I guess I interpreted "the steward has seen him throwing water and spitting at Scott Laird" differently.
twitterverse having a fun time with this one. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/27/inter-40m-gareth-bale
i dislike birmingham i hope arsenal win 5-0 and all my brum mates can call me a 'glory supporter' after i've been to watch birmingham and arsenal more times than they have all of them cnuts
unbelievable. the fa fined blackpool £25k for "fielding a weakened team" against aston villa, despite only using players from the 25 player squad approved by the fa, only 1 u21 who had already played 6 of their 11 games. they actually had the slightly better possession stats and lost the game by a single goal. fkn joke.
Here's something mildly interesting; it's a map of the various homes of London's professional clubs. Oddly enough, Chelsea are the only club that seems to have stayed put, but they only exist because Stamford Bridge needed to be filled with either a football club or rail cars, and Gus Mears chose the former option. Clicking on Chelsea on the map led me to this article that claims Fulham are London's oldest professional club. Point of order: we were professional seven years before Fulham, but while based in Woolwich, weren't actually part of London proper until 1900.
Cheers guys, I like little nerd things like that; I'm glad I'm not alone. That map, however, is missing the location of the Sportsmans Ground. I've been hunting it for years, along with the grave of Henry Norris; I found the latter, but haven't been able to locate the old ground.
Admittedly I am a little slow. I've been trying to follow the Cosmos thing as it has been progressing, but maybe someone who has some knowledge could give me an outline of what is going on so that I can better understand. They couldn't really join the MLS until 2013, correct?
The Guardian took a massive Fail today... good for them, dont try and wind people up with something that equates to "Cool story, bro" the twitter mob is abusing the editor of the Guardian Sport's twitter account http://newsthump.com/2011/01/27/gua...s-after-securing-rights-to-their-own-opinion/
Currently watching Ajax - NAC in the Dutch Cup. Pretty entertaining game. Ajax 2-1 NAC at the moment.
Its a joke. The Cosmos would need a real investor, plus a place to play. Someone's trying to make money off nostalgia. They wouldn't be allowed to do what they did the last time, and true soccer fans in NYC are either RedBull fans or won't bother with MLS. A rebirth of the Cosmos won't really change that.
You had Birmingham listed as one of the teams you supported just a few months ago..now you dislike them..come on son! We all know you're one of "them cnuts" too!
remember going to see nac once, years and years ago. it was rough as **** and they were awful to watch.
Nice. The only European game I've ever been to was a game at PSG. Ended up sitting a couple sections over from the Boulogne Boys, which was pretty interesting.
