v. 2/19/2011 7PM at the Citrus Bowl Tickets $10-$15 http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/news/2011/01/union-heading-orlando-first-leg-preseason
This news is HUUUUUUUUUUGE!!! Not only are we locking in games, and we'll be hosting Union training for the next four years, but we'll get to see the pre-eminant MLS supporters' organization, the Sons of Ben in action!
Just speculating, but Bimbo is sponsoring the Orlando Camp I belive.... so there may also be a chance you see teams like America, Guad and Saprissa come through as well...
Might as well mention Monterrey, since, well, they're ONE OF OUR SPONSORS... BTW: It is Bimbo. And Bimbo just bought Sara Lee.
Not to burst your bubble, but I doubt the Sons of Ben will show up. At least not in any great numbers. They didn't show up to Tampa last season when the Rowdies played Philly and would assume they'll take the same attitude about the games in Orlando. Have they said anything on their forums about coming down? Since it's a pre-season tournament type setup? Would be cool if they did, I just wouldn't hold my breath.
Yes there are several planning on coming. Not sure how strong their plans on. Wish I could come. This should be good, I believe Tampa beat Philly last year.
Does anyone know what MLS teams are training in Florida for preseason or at least playing friendlies.
Here's a complete list of all MLS teams preseason schedule's. http://www.mlssoccer.com/mls-club-preseason-schedules
It says the Union are beginning training in Orlando today. Any idea where? I just drove by the Citrus bowl and didn't see anything going on there....
Either Lake Sylvan park or UCF, maybe. I saw that the Union are playing other clubs at these locations.
Thanks for the info. BTW, my ticket rep called me yesterday. He said this game is part of the season ticket package. I'm assuming its one of the friendlies... Not a bad game to have and I was going anyways... apparently, there's no time to get the tickets through the mail so you pick them up at the stadium will-call.
Has anyone else gotten phone calls or anything? I haven't heard anything recently. I keep hoping to see it announced that they've signed the lease for the Citrus Bowl.
Since HS and bowl games are the other tenants and the City seems almost desperate to use the venue, I wouldn't too concerned about it.
Nihonjin desu ka? Not many Japanese in this area of town... I watched the Antlers play back in the mid-90s - back in teh days of... Zico!
the chances of them announcing the lease and the new kits simultaneously ? Yes the spirit of Zico goes on xD beautiful team arent they ?
It appears the team is starting to charge people for tickets this morning, so I think that means everything is set up.
