My ticket rep "Alex" (sidenote: he's doing a good job... got my credit card info out of me even though I didn't want to committ to season tickets until I saw the schedule) mentioned something about Jan. 18 as some sort of decision day or... hell, I don't know what he was talking about. Something about not charging the credit card until then... anyone fill in the blanks for me? When is a schedule supposed to be set? Is the league delaying to see how the teams and such play out? Seems like the teams are still coming on board... no? Things are still in flux? On the ticket price side... I think prices are about $5 high. I'm paying $20 a game for seats around the 25 yard line. It's not killing me - but if I was a college student or making $15 an hour somewhere, I'd probably have to pass on season tickets. Of course, if I was younger I'd probably be sitting in the supporter's section. But I still think $20-25 is steep for sideline seats - maybe in your head but there's a big difference between $15 tickets and $20 tickets. You make your money on the concessions right? I'll gladly pay $5 for a pretzel, no problem.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 So is the Citrus Bowl set in stone now? Is WWoS still an option? I'm just sort of getting nervous to see this team playing in such a huge venue..... I'd much rather see them play in the baseball stadium or whatever other seating they have available at WWoS.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Lets say its 99% sure to be the Citrus Bowl. No way its the WWOS, besides thats so far out, unless you live in Celebration or Four Corners its no where near anyone.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 There will be a Orlando City Supporters pre-season meeting / event on January 22, 2011 at 6:00 PM. We will gather at Orlando Brewing just south of downtown Orlando (behind the Amtrak Station). The team is promoting this event on their Facebook Page and Website. Amazing. Team Front Office staff will be attending and will be answering questions. I hope all you guys and girls on BigSoccer (posting on the Orlando threads) can make it. It's not just talk anymore.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Hopefully I can make it down there, I was planning on doing house hunting in February, but maybe for such a special occasion I can bump it up to January...
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 The schedule has been set. Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 First home game April 9 against FC New York. Anyone know anything about FC NY?
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Very cool! Glad to see the home games are night games, always preferred going to games at night. I presume we are going to see more matches added (MLS friendlies that were mentioned a bit and such)? I believe it was 18 matches total included with the season tickets if I remember correctly. edit: "Packages include all 12 regular season home games as well as four international exhibition matches and two US Open Cup matches. The international exhibition dates and opponents will be announced at a later date. To order tickets, call 407-536-5368." http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=20 There's my answer
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Hey guys, I'm trying to go to the supporters meeting on Saturday but I can't be there until after 7 when I get off of work. Will it be okay to show up late? I don't want to be known as the "Late New Guy"!
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Good luck with that 15 day stretch with 7 games, including trips to Antigua and Rochester. Oh, and that Friday/Saturday turnaround with a flight to Charleston crammed in the middle.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 We're hoping to announce our first MLS friendly next week, just waiting on a few more i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 OMFG June and July is going to be brutal, wtf. Why is the season so short?
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 I'd imagine the season will grow in length as the number of teams in the league grows. Then again, a regional competition model allows you to limit the amount of games if you limit the distances travelled. We won't really know the full extent of the USL's plans until closer to next season.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Like from LA to say, Puerto Rico? http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2011/33398866.html#SCHEDULE
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 With so few games why schedule such a short, tightly packed summer when you don't have to? I know you personally aren't in a position to criticize, but this schedule is ridiculous. It starts off great, home games every other Saturday. But then it loses the script completely with 7 games 2 weeks. You even have two games on back to back days with one being an away game! What? I see absolutely no reason for such a lousy set up. The Rowdies played long road stretches last year and on more than one occasion crammed two home games very close to each other, it sucked. It was terrible for attendance and interest in the team.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Something just registered in my brain. And I don't know why it took me this long to figure it out. One of the teams in USL Pro is the Dayton Dutch Lions. I know at least one Orlando City supporter who just might be there. I have a friend I can stay with in Springfield.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Thats great. Did you think they were in Holland or something? Or just forgot they existed?
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Just connecting Dayton and Springfield slipped my mind. It's more an excuse to see the friend than anything.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 We've signed a new player - Devorn Jorsling (yes, that is spelled right) - http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/teamnews/index.html?article_id=23
News from the Orlando City Supporters Meeting / Event on 1/22/11---- It was cold and windy but approximately 70 people (at least that's how many signed in) stood outside the Orlando Brewing Company to be part of the event. Orlando City front office staff came and mingled with the supporters. Team owner Phil Rawlins spoke to the crowd. The team helped us with the door prizes (four tickets to the City v. Union match on 2/19/11). We did the pizza and decorations. We appointed one of our S.G. captains and announced our Supporter of the Month (for February). Except for the weather, the night was a great success. All-in-all, I'd say not bad for a for a Supporters Group who's team has not kicked ball-one yet.
FYI Orlando City just graduated to real club subforum status here on BS. No more USL Expansion forum. Yeah!
